Best high torque drill on the market.

I use this bad boy to bore 3" holes 6 to 12" deep into the end grain of green hardwood logs to make shrink pots. I tried several other professional grade heavy duty drills and burned out the motors in each. This is the only one I haven't burned out. The clutch is the key. In my opinion this drill is the best high torque drill on the home market. I expect to get years of good use out of it.

Impressive drill

I bought this for mixing concrete, and drilling pilots for post holes. It made incredible short work of the post holes with using 3", then 6" auger bits, and reamed out the entire hole easily. All I had to do was clear the dirt. Also used it for drilling pilot holes in concrete for attaching railing on my porch. I don't know why I didn't get one of these bad boys sooner. Fantastic for any heavy duty applications!

Should've bought this sooner!

I'll start by saying I've been using Milwaukee hole hawgs for about 20 yrs. I have a virtual grave yard of them being that I only get about 3_6 months of use before I'm rebuilding the gears. I bought the DeWalt to try with skepticism. I've had the drill about a month now and it out performs the Milwaukee in every aspect. Roughing plumbing in around 50 houses a year my drills are put to the test. The DeWalt doesn't seem to get as hot as the Milwaukee does under constant use and even though it draws more amps it seems to be easier on my generator because it isn't bogging down like the hole hawgs do. Time will tell if the longevity is there, I will post back after I've had it a little longer.Variable speed+More power+2 1/2" - 3 1/2" holes all day long+Well it's now been over a year of hard use and this drill is still going strong! DeWalt is winning me back as a customer. I will never go back to Milwaukee

Bad ass

Carpenter contractor for 40 years and I love to get new tools so I was excited to have an excuse to get my men our first angle drill. We needed to drill multiple 3/4" holes in dozens of treated pilings 12"-20" in diameter. The drill didn't hesitate and powered through even with cheap and dull auger bits. I should've gotten one years ago. My only gripes are that such a nice tool should have a storage case and that the price makes it tough to get one of these for every truck. A knock-off might be the solution since this won't be an everyday tool. I trust Dewalt to usually give me years of service. We'll see.

Perfect for Old Oak Joists/Headers in Old House

I needed a drill to bore 3/4" holes through structure on a 1910 farmhouse for additional Romex. This meant going through hard antique oak and true 2" floor joists, true 4" exterior wall headers (plus an extra 2" dimensional pine sister board) for upwards of a total of 5 1/2" of wood. This drill drove my auger bits with ease. I greatly appreciated the side handle and the overall length of the drill in countering the torque as the drill bored out the oak.One caution, if you use the Greenlee Fish Poles and a 3/4" bore on this type of drill on oak...be prepared to take another trip to the hardware store for something with a beefier shaft. My Greenlee snapped like a twig on the oak. Didn't even go a 1/2" before over-torquing the assembly.I highly recommend single piece wood auger bits where you can and in places like exterior wall headers in attics (very limited space) choose your extensions carefully.

The power I needed

I used this drill to send bits and a reamer down 5 inches of steel. The drill didn't care, just kept sending it. I am very happy. I will pay for and enjoy a great tool.

Dewalt 1/2 Variable Speed Hole Hog Drill

We have used Milwaukee hole hog drills for years but they didn't to last long anymore so I tried the Dewalt 1/2 hole hog is a little heavier but they are lasting longer and haven't had to replace one yet as an electrical contractor we drill a lot of holes and non stop. I would highly recommend this hole hog to any contractor that puts his tools to the test.
