LONG THOROUGH REVIEW from a skeptical pessimist
This collar is PERFECT. Okay so I was really really super skeptical about buying this for several reasons: - I hate the thought of my two pups having to constantly wear an extra collar - I've tried the flea/tick collars from Walmart and they were greasy and had a weird smell but even worse, they did NOT work. - I've read some of the horrifying reviews - I'm just a skeptical person and simply didn't think this would work. BUT IM A BELIEVER NOW. For context, I have a 3yr old short haired ~45lbs pup (pitbull, lab, corgi mix) and and a 7yr old long haired ~30-35lbs pup (Lhasa Apso terrier mix). I live in Maryland where the weather is just always unpredictable. I feel like we have like 6 seasons instead of 4. We have woods in the back of our house which deer always like to frequent, along with a swamp/pond across the street. This spring and the start of this summer we had a monsoon season where afterwards, there was an annoying infestation of ticks (mostly Lone Star and Deer ticks). It was disgusting. I legitimately could not take my dogs out for a walk without finding at least 4 ticks on them afterwards and on me!!! And this is on top of treating my dogs with the monthly tick/flea topical oil treatment. That's how bad it was, which is what prompted me to buy the Seresto collars. (I bought Large for both of them) Once I did and placed them on my dogs, after maybe like 1-2 days, I have not found a single tick on them. I know that sounds so far fetched but I don't know what else to say because it's absolutely true. It does take about 1-2 days for the medication to get into the system (from experience and from *I think* what the package said) because I still did find a few ticks on them the next day. But after that, not a single tick! They've been wearing the collars for about 1.5 months now so I'm still keeping an eye on them (I plan on updating this review after 7-8 months to see if the claim of lasting 8 months is legitimate). Right now though, I am sooo happy. Now I want to address some of the other reviews I saw. After I saw some of the pictures of rashes this collar left on some dogs, I was worried, especially cause my smaller one already has exist in skin issues. But both are doing perfectly well with no skin issues from the collar. I don't want to be presumptuous and I may be totally wrong, but I'm thinking maybe the rashes the other dogs had were because they're not used to wearing collars? So they just kept itching at it? Maybe? I say that because for me at least, my dogs are used to wearing their regular collars nearly 24/7 since they were babies. So when I added the Seresto collars, they were unphased. But then again I'm also aware that just like humans, each dog reacts differently. Luckily, My dogs have no rash problems from the collars. As for some claiming that the collar doesn't work.. I'm not sure what to say other than that they really truly work for my dogs, and I live in a heavily tick infested area. It really is like night and day in terms of how well this collar works at preventing tick bites. Especially with my long haired dog since ticks would easily hide in her fur. The collar isn't greasy nor does it have a strong emanating odor. BUT it's still medicated so it still has a very slight residue to it but nothing that interferes with everyday life. I'm sold and plan on continuing with this product from here on out. NO MORE GREASY NASTY SMELLY TOPICAL MONTHLY TICK GREASE! **Side note** Make sure you read the packaging instructions carefully!! They mention a few things like about how the efficacy is shortened to something like 5 months for dogs who swim a lot, or how the collar is designed to unlatch if the dog pulls incase it gets stuck on something (which I thoroughly appreciate) so you CANNOT substitute this as a walking collar! The collar DOES unlatch if you hold onto it and your dog pulls (personal experience: guests came over, one jumps and I accidentally grabbed the Seresto collar and it unlatched). But you CAN reattach it!! So definitely take the time to read the package instructions. Hope this helps! I really loveeeee this collar. THANK YOU SERESTO!!!

Great value, very effective
Love this flea and tick collar for my 3 year old lab. Only had skin irration for two days around collar then did not bother him at all, I went from finding two ticks a day on him to nothing at all. Great value for your money and hassle free. I change it every 6 months and have had no issues with ticks for the last 3 years. So glad I found this, has saved me so much money

Best Flea & Tick collar - Repeat buy every year
This is the only flea and tick collar we trust for our 65lb Catahoula, and our vet recommends it. We actually bought these twice from the vet before realizing that they were available otc... at nearly 1/2 the cost. The collar is soft and flexible and hides easily under a collar if that is your desire. Make sure to activate it before putting it on your dog by lightly stretching and unrolling it, bending it backwards a bit. It will have a grayish-white, powdery film to indicate that the medication is exposed and the collar is ready to be put on your pet. When you put it on, wrap it around where its collar usually lies, pull it through two loops, ensuring it is not too tight and that you can fit two fingers between the collar and the dog's neck. Trim the excess, and that's it! The medication will kill any fleas or ticks crawling around within 24-48 hours. It has no discernible scent that I've noticed, and the light gray color is just noticeable to know it's on. Catahoula Leopard dogs are known for their sensitive skin, but this medication has no effect, and he has never lost hair from it. We will continue to buy this for our doggo. He deserves the best

pricey
It works, no more fleas for now, but it's only been 1 month. There is a class action suit against it, do your homework. There are warning labels on all meds, use with caution. It works for my dog with no negative reactions, she's happy and me too.

Works great, but not for 8 months
It’s the best flea product we’ve ever used. However it doesn’t last anywhere near 8 months. I’ve been tracking the last few purchases and on average it lasts 3.5 months before the fleas return. It’s the same amount of time for both dogs. 8 months is an extreme over exaggeration and so instead of 5 stars I’m giving 4 for false advertising the longevity. Everything else is perfect and I’ll continue to come back and buy them every 3 months, not 8, for my doggies. We’ve tried lots of flea products including prescriptions and this is by far the best by a landslide for effectiveness.

Avoided...now 100% loyal customer!
I have a pit-lab mix pup, 10 months old. When he was about 5-6 months old, he started itching constantly, and literally chewing himself raw in places. Longer story short, I was using a drop on for fleas that didn't work. I live in Central FL and have fleas year round. He brought fleas into the house, and they literally EXPLODED everywhere! My 6 indoor cats got infested, the carpets, everything. If this wasn't bad enough, my pup developed a horrific allergy to fleas and their bites. He was miserable...constantly itching and chewing! Bald patches, and scabs everywhere. I sprayed the house, and also used an IGR. (Insect growth regulator) Flea combed everyone, everyday, several times. Drop-on for everyone, though I didn't know at the time it wasn't working. Capstar for everyone every 2-3 days. Baths for the pup every few days with medicated shampoos and flea shampoos. I became very frustrated because the drop-op wasn't doing anything. It was a nightmare!! I looked at this flea collar along with others, but was afraid to try anything because of the horrible side effects some dogs had. My guy was already sooo miserable, that I didn't want to take a chance on causing him more pain, etc. After weeks of this, and my pup being severely allergic to fleas, and having lost so much fur from chewing and scratching that he looked like he had mange or something on several areas of his body, I finally broke down and ordered a collar to try. I was very skeptical and doubted it could help, and definitely didn't want to waste $60 in these tough financial times. WELL!! First of all, he had no bad reaction to it, thank goodnes!! And within a week of wearing it, he stopped 95% of the chewing and scratching. I was utterly amazed to say the least. It's now a month later, and he's 99.99% scratch free, and all his hair has regrown!! He's once again shiny and silky black, and a very happy pup!!! While I'm extatic that the collar worked soooo well, I admit that I remain concerned about the chemicals that are going thru his body via the collar. However, anything that you use for fleas and ticks is going to introduce chemicals. While I fear cancer, having lost a loved dog to it last year, there's no way that I want this pup to suffer like he was suffering before using this collar!! I want him to have a happy, comfortable life. He runs and plays on almost 2 acres, with year round fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. He'll be wearing this flea collar the rest of his life!!! I've read many many of the reviews. And because some people have said that the caller stops working earlier than 8 months, I'll simply buy one and have it on hand in case this one stops working early. Even if it only works for 6 months, that's only $10 a month for complete comfort for my pup. Totally worth it!!!

Does not seem to repel or kill Lonestar ticks
I thought I had finally found a great product for my Great Pyrenees mix until we recently found a lone star tick on my dogs right eye lid. It looked like a skin tag at first glance but I had to take off my glasses and get on the floor and using my iPhone flashlight I thought I saw a leg move. My daughter brought the tweezers down for me and I pulled the tick off of my dog’s eyelid. The tick may have been sick because it wasn’t moving a lot when I pulled it off and it may not have been completely latched on yet. It didn’t take much at all to pull it off. Before pulling it off, my dog was laying on the floor and using her front paw, she was doing a swiping move to her face, so she obviously felt it on her eye. This was the third collar I had bought, first two she never had a tick on her. So now I am questioning whether the collars really work. My dog just had surgery recently to repair an injured CCL, so we haven’t been outside much while she still recovers. We do take leashed walks and are building back up to where she use to be before tearing her CCL. Just so disappointed that the collar isn’t doing more for tick prevention. The collar was installed exactly as the directions state, close to her neck but loose enough to put two fingers under it, she doesn’t swim at all, doesn’t like water. She hasn’t been groomed in 4 months and when I get her groomed, I always remove the collar prior to driving her there, the out it back in when I bring her home. The Seresto collar she was wearing was purchased in February, so it hadn’t even been two months yet. If it were 6 months old, that might be different. The collars are designed to kill and repel but here was a lone star tick attached to my girls eye lid. That’s not good enough protection for my girl. According to the Seresto website, it can take up to 6 hours for the tick to die. After finding the tick, I removed the collar and stored it in a sealed baggie, gave her a dose of regular Simparica (not Simparica Trio because I already give her Tri-Heart for heartworm prevention). I am trying to decide if I will use the collar again, just use Simparica or maybe I should do both since they are different types of prevention meds.
