I did my research before buying this item and it paid off as this is a very good quality honing steel that does an excellent job in keeping your knives sharp, plus it didn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Would be five stars...
I would've given this five stars if it would've had the handy hanging ring like the picture shows. It's hefty, the grip has somewhat of a square shape to make it secure in your hand and it's a nice fine grit. I butcher Poultry for a living and I really need that little ring to hang the steel and keep it out-of-the-way. That's my only disappointment. Perfect size cause I use up to 8 inch knives. I called Amazon and they are exchanging it for one with a ring. Amazon has always made things right if there is any discrepancy. If you don't need a ring this is an excellent honing steel.

It’s a honer, not a sharpener.
It quickly hones any properly sharpened knife to a fine edge it is easy to clean and use. The handle is surprisingly soft, yet firm and textured. The design is simple.
