This was a gift, but I remember it as about 4 inches long. It is not the smallest available, but I wanted to give it to my 20yr old daughter and have her keep it in her purse. The smaller ones will have less functions/tools, I think this one is a good size.

Does the large blade lock in place ?

No. Best to assume any pocket-size SAK does not lock as Victorinox makes very few locking-blade pocket knives (mainly the Delémont 'S' knives carried over from Wenger). :-)

Is this a lock blade knife? Just wondering for safety purposes.

No, this is not a lock blade. I have never had a problem with safety issues and the blade is firmly secure when open.Truly a wonderful piece of engineering.

Does it have a phillips screw driver?

Yes, at least the larger models do. It is, of course, a "one size fits all" item ... suitable for the middle size "Phillips" heads: too big for the mini sizes and not beefy enough for the big heavy duty sizes. Every model I have seen has this tool, but I cannot be certain that every model does.
