Great saw for the price and intended purpose.
Great little scroll saw for around $150. I have a larger scroll saw (Dewalt 788, another excellent saw) but I wanted something to handle small parts and for my kids to use. For the price and application this machine is perfect. Don't expect it to cut thick pieces like a larger scroll saw could. This is for modeling and small detail work. In this regard it is perfect for the price. The quality is good and it is accurate enough for my purposes. If you need to cut thick pieces and don't want to spend $400-500 for a decent machine (like the Dewalt 788), there are other FULL SIZE but cheap machines out there. Some reviewers mentioned that blade changes were difficult. I didn't find this to be the case at all. In fact, it's no more difficult than changing blades on my venerable Dewalt 788 full size scroll saw. I guess it depends on your level of experience with shop tools. This tool was no more difficult nor easier than what I've experienced.

good luck with anything harder
I bought this saw 7 years ago and have "put up" with it ever since because I didn't want to spend more money to buy another one. I mainly use it to cut pine wood and it does a so so job...good luck with anything harder. The blades are horrible to change out when they break, it is loud, bounces horrible and as I'm writing this review I'm starting to feel sorry for myself that I have needed to use it for so long. Today was the breaking point when the blade broke again and I am frustrated with trying to put in a new one. I'll call 7 years of frustration enough and look for another one.

A great little saw when used within its capabilities
I really like this little saw!! I have a larger scroll saw but wanted something smaller and more useful to me in my model building activities. The Proxxon DS115/E fits the bill nicely. Be aware if you want to slice through 1 inch thick hardwood this isn't the saw for you. But, if you want to use it within the capabilities recommended by Proxxon it really shines. I've cut balsa up to 1/2" thick, 1/8" thick walnut and basswood, 1/16" various plastics and, with a jewelers saw blade, have cut templates from 1/16" aluminum. The capability of using shortened blades is a real plus. It is a bit slower in cutting than a larger saw (one that has more HP and stroke length) but that allows for the precision I wanted. Proxxon recommends mounting it to another board or the bench but I haven't found that necessary thus far. No scroll saw is great at ripping long parallel pieces and the Proxxon is no different (owners manual mentions this) - most don't have a rip fence even though the Proxxon does. When used within its capabilities this is a great little saw.

Proxxon DS 115/E Scroll Saw
The Proxxon scroll saw is a wonderful tool for detailed work on jewelry and other physically small projects. I use it to initially shape wax forms to be cast. It does a great job. With the blade cut to the shortest length, it can be precisely controlled.I agree with a previous reviewer that cited the extremely poor instructions.Blade changing is a bit unorthodox but with practice it's passable. It's very important to install the blade so that it makes contact with roller guide. Also, as recommended in the instructions, cutting the blade to shortest possible length greatly improves accuracy. The blades are easily cut to size with normal medium-duty wire cutters.I was surprised to find that the unit included crosscut and rip guides. These have proven to be very useful assets. The saw is very well made for a relatively inexpensive item. If you are doing model level work, I highly recommend this saw. However, if you are into large-scale projects, it's not the tool for you.

Not worth the money!
In the beginning I was impressed by the sturdy material but after that it was all downhill. Blades were very thin and difficult to install. It was far from the quiet operation as advertised and the blade did not cut even the thinist material. Disappointed in the usually great German products.

The precision of a jeweler's instrument
Just what I was looking for. Relatively small footprint, precision blades, and smooth cuts. A bit pricey, but ultimately worth it.

Terrible insturctions, the saw blade is a nightmare to attach the main platform
I'm a hobbyist and bought this for woodworking. Maybe it's me but after spending several hours trying to follow the absolutely horrible instructions and searching youtube on how to place the serrated blade into the saw I gave up. Do not purchase this. It's a total waste of money.

Microscroll saw with issues. Too bad there is not yet an affordable competitor.
I needed a micro scroll saw for cutting thin overlays, doing inlay work. Bad: instruction manual requires magnification to read. WHAT THIS MAY REALLY MEAN: The manual is packed with safety CYA for their lawyers, but if it's too small to read by other than a high myope with thick glasses, the buyer HAS NOT BEEN INFORMED, and the manufacturer should not be protected. The "Installation" section is unillustrated, vague. To attach the saw yellow bow to the body needed a very long screwdriver because the screws are way in there obstructing the handle by the bow, and a cordless won't fit. No help from the manual either. And, one of the screw holes was badly tapped so the screw required huge energy to drive. My arthritis wasn't happy. The most frustrating is the blade change, very difficult because the standard blades are too long for the space, had to shorten a blade instead of moving three screws on the top guide assembly. Really felt like returning it. Good: the speed control works well, reduced vibration on thin stock, yet cutting speed was adequate with the new blade. The little dust blower did its job. So I'm keeping it. Antediluvian engineering. Where are the fachleute of yesteryear?

... Saw saw for about a year now and is fantastic!!
I've had my Proxxon Scroll Saw saw for about a year now and is fantastic!!! The build quality is very good, I like the fence that is supplied. The adjustable blade is a nice convenience

Works well
Love this little thing. Great for very small intricate cutting

Nothing good with this tool
Disappointing in all regards. Poor precision, very awkward and troublesome sawblade holdings, power switch in an unsafe location. Unable to make strait cuts in any material, underpower for most uses, over-priced for what you get. Seek alternative brands.

Adequate product
It has taken me quite awhile learning how to put the blades in which I found very frustrating. Otherwise I am pleased with the product. My recommendation is to put the blade in the top first . The instruction manual was lacking in explanation and to find information on the internet was very difficult when I was looking for answers to my questions. But it works very well for my dollhouse miniatures when you figure everything out.
