Will this harm my visiting badgers foxs muntjak deer squirrels and birds ?

Hi. i use this product around the house but not in the garden area. i am sure this would be harmful to badgers moles birds etc as it is a pellet and can be easily ingested by small birds etc. I have not experienced bad things yet and wish not to. I would be careful if using this, if you have concerns I think there is a telephone number or company name is on the bottle. I would either ring them or google answer on the net. Where i used your slug pellets, mold spores are all over the soil...why this is happening...whats wrong???

It’s totally fine and very common. Don’t panic. The pellets are made of natural ingredients - iron. When the pellets get wet in the rain, and start to break down, just like most “food” it goes mouldy! The mould isn’t dangerous to the plants etc. As someone else mentioned, just fork them into the soil slightly. The slugs don’t eat them anyway: the pellets dissolve into the earth depositing lots of iron on the surface -the slugs crawl over the earth and the iron gets absorbed through their bodies, causing them to die of an iron overdose. Don’t bury the pellets too deep or they won’t work, but if the mould bothers you, just turn the earth over very slightly.

They banned metaldehyde which worked well,-but it was dangerous to birds too. I found the new pellets which contain ferric oxide don't work, so i've given up on slug pellets! Same with fence products .Fence I have had for 40 year still stands,-fences now last 10 years at best,-due to arsenic treatments being banned!
