For Dummies and Not-So-Dummies
After recently purchasing the new Galaxy S Tab, I've been passing down my old Tabs to folks that were used to iPads and iPhones.Instead of explaining everything, it was easier to just give a copy of this book along with them.Of course, I read through it myself to make sure it was helpful. To be honest, most of what is contained in the book can easily be learned simply by playing around with your Tab, but it still gets a solid 4 stars because it does hold a few nuggets that even a seasoned user might use.Written in the familiar Dummies format, with the usual side notes and tips. Easy to read and can help you to quickly get used to being in the Galaxy. The people I gave it to agreed with the above, finding it helpful in learning a new system.

Without this book, my Galaxy Tablet would have been in its box forever!
My Galaxy Tablet was a birthday present. You know, one of those electronic things that kids give their grandparents. I took it out of the box but couldn't even figure out how to turn it on or do anything but become incredibly confused. On my computer, I can put the mouse on an icon and get some help. Not so with my tablet. This book, Galaxy Tabs for Dummies changed my life!!! Now I love my tablet!! Gookin wrote the book in a way that I could understand and follow instructions. Now I can take photos, read books, listen to podcasts, use the calendar and scheduling functions, play games, read my email, search the internet, and much more. I took my tablet on my last airplane flight after following the Dummy's instructions. The only chapter missing in the book is how to use Polaris, the word processing, spreadsheet and powerpoint. I use those programs on my laptop and have figured out how to put these items on the tablet., But I'm sure there are shortcuts that i don't know that would have been helpful in this book. Overall, if you're new to Galaxy tablets, then I highly recommend this book. Very, very helpful.

A good general reference for both beginners and experienced users
Dan Gookin's books have always set a high standard, and this one is no exception. This is a helpful summary and reference for those of us who have used tablets and the Android operating system before, but it's clear and complete enough for the first time tablet user. The one important omission I can think of is that he doesn't describe the use of a micro SD card, or the use of the tablet's USB-OTG capability. [Warning - not all Tab 3s are compatible with UDB-OTG. The 8 inch and 10 inch versions are compatible, but the 7 inch, currently, is not.] Note also that this book deals with all models of the Samsung Tab series, including those with SIM cards (which can act as telephones) and those with only WiFi access. As it happens, this isn't a limitation - as long as you understand that not all functions of the Tab series are available in all models. Good book - probably the best of the lot.

Samsung Galaxy Tabs For Dummies is a very good book to get you started on learning and working the Samsung tablet. I did however use it with another book with larger & clearer diagrams. As with all "dummy" books I found too much sarcasm & humor when all I wanted was instructions....

If you need a book on Samsung Galaxy Tabs this is probably as good as any
As I am reading this book my 9 year old granddaughter is sitting upside down in a chair playing a game on my Samsung Galaxy Tab that she downloaded and installed. The book is good. Author Dan Gookin who has written over 140 books with over 12 million in print tells you what your tablet can do but he does not always tell you how to do it. Figuring out how to do it requires either sitting upside down in a chair and fiddling with the tablet or going onto the internet and searching for instructions. If you are already familiar with tablets then this is a great book. If not between this book and the internet you should be able to figure it out.

this one is better than the norm
I generally don't find the "Dummies" books very helpful or informative. However, this one is better than the norm. My wife and I are new to the world of tablets and the Android operating system. So far, we've been able to find the answers to all but a few of our questions. The addition of color illustrations makes the book easier to follow. I would recommend this book to any tablet novice.

Samsung Galaxy Tabs For Dummies ...Yeppers, I am a technological idiot who buys Dummies books, and I find that they do help me in my quest to keep up the or at least understand the under thirty crowd that comes to visit me. Trust me its not easy being over fifty and of the ADD persausion (never the H) and trying to figure out technology let alone life.

If you are new to Samsung tablets, I recommend a book.
This book does not cover everything, but it is a good start. Don't hesitate to do web searches for unanswered questions you may have; there are lots of sites out there with good info. Even so, I still recommend a book for tablet beginners. This one is easy to read, and you can use it as a reference. It is not necessary to read it cover to cover. allstar

The book was delivered very quickly and arrived in perfect condition. Although it is written for the american Galaxy tabs users, I have managed to apply the information given in the book to my tablet purchased in the UK even setting up with my local library to borrow ebooks with my UK membership number. It states in the book that this facility only applies to the USA but that is no longer the case. I very pleased with the instructions in the book, it is easy to follow and will enable me to do so much more with my tablet than reading email and surfing the net. Thank you Dan Gookin for helping me getting around my new tablet.

Invaluable
Like most things these days the Galaxy doesn't come with a full instruction book, though you can download it from a computer. The good thing about these books is they cover things you may not have been aware of in the first place and the writing style is more "user friendly" than an instruction manual.Have tried other similar types of books but the "for Dummies" seems to cover things better. Perhaps it's just meant for me!

Excellent. Easy to understand
Excellent. Easy to understand. Speaks my language as I am not into "Technology" in a big way. I have bought quite a few "Books For Dummies" on various subjects. So very very useful, especially as firms do not issue too many manuals now. If there is one it's just an abridged version. Of little help at all.
