are they a narrow medium width? i have a wide foot

I would say they are a normal width. The size of the boot I got says 11.5 M and my foot width at the ball is 4.5 inches wide. They fit comfortably, not too tight, or loose.

I'm intending to add height. Will this do ?

No they will not add height as the sole is only about a inch. You may want to try boots with more heel to them

Are these boots steel toe?

I actually have two sets of these identical boots that are steel toed. But I’ve had them for yrs before Harley discontinued the steel toe versions. But they’re still out there if you’re looking
