Does this retain a lot of animal hair/fur for pet owners out there?

Yes microfiber always holds fur/hair. Microfiber is what cleaning cloths are made from because it has this ability. That said, it's soft and comfy so if you can keep the pet off the bed, you'll love the feel of it. LIke silk, except 100% washable.

ok, im confused, is this both a comforter and the cover?

Yes, you can use it as a comforter or get a duvet cover and put in over it. I use it as a comforter because it’s so soft and fluffy.

Can you put it in tbe dryer instead of the sun?

Yes.... I have washed and dried I’m machine once every week and it looks great.

Is this a thin or thick comforter?

I won't consider this comforter thick, it is not very thick
