Indian Head Old Fashioned Stone Ground Yellow Corn Meal 2 lb, 2 Pack

I love fried okra! but only if it has a nice crunchy "crust" on it when I indulge myself. This year it has been very difficult to find yellow corn meal for some reason, so I tried this brand since it seems it is a little more coarsely ground than others. My fried okra was perfect! I like the coarse grind and it makes a nice crust. Will try some homemade cornbread as soon as the weather cools down!

Great for corn bread

This product very much reminds me of something my grandmother would have and probably did use when baking.Good texture, excellent coloring, a solid, rugged flavor to bring back memories of when food quality was high and taste actually meant something.

Those of us in SE Texas - Lamb's Stone Ground Cornmeal was the best and I have only used Lamg's for the last 25+ years. However, Lamb's product and packaging was reduced by almost half, and the cost was 4x more.. in these last few years. I have been on a search for a replacement product that still had the flavor and coarseness that I like / and will only use. This Indian Head is the next best to Lamb's brand. FYI - The cornmeal is shipped as 2 / 1 LB containers = for a TOTAL of 2 lbs. of product.**I would have rated a 5 Star - except the description leads one to believe this price is for 2 - 2 LB packages. A bit misleading in the description. Makes great cornbread in my cast iron skillet.

I'm 75 and have been making cornbread for 50 years. I have tried a variety of cornmeal and found this to be the best. It's a bit on the coarse side which makes for nice texture. Good stuff.

I have used this brand for years. I have tried others when I couldn't get it, but NOTHING tastes as good or bakes up as well as this simple stone ground brand. It is the perfect grind- not to big like polenta, not to small like flour.I bake it in at least 8 of my bread machine breads as an additional ingredient to the bread or whole wheat flour. It is also, as you would hope, perfect for an 8x8 pan cornbread (recipe right on the back of the package.The taste, grind, color and freshness of the cornmeal can't be beat.
