I just use filtered water and Dawn dish soap.

does this remove tarnish from jewelry?

It depends on what type of media and soap you use. I use a special polishing soap powder and a mixed shape stainless steel media. It will certainly remove tarnish from jewelry, however, if your jewelry has a high polish finish this tumbler may leave you with more of a satin finish due to the abrasive effect of the media. For polishing jewelry with a high polish finish I would recommend trying a ultrasonic cleaner, steam cleaner, or even just a high-quality polishing cloth.
