KOH-I-NOOR 5343 - Chalk holder made of metal for round 9-10 mm chalk, black - 1 PIECE

I have tried using chalk without a holder. It was like riding a Unicycle; sloppy results, broken parts, physical pain. I have tried the plastic ones. More like a Yugo; slightly better results for a short period of time before each began to deteriorate toward an untimely yet inevitable demise. I have tried the metal ones from Charles Leonard. More like a Kia or Hyundai; reliable, but not satisfactory, stylish, or particularly comfortable for a large American male. I have tried the Deluxe Chalk Holder-Keeper from Stikkiworks. Very nice, pretty much a Buick; nice looking, very comfy in my hand, and so far as I can tell durable (have not had chalk start to slide in one yet, after several months use). Points off for the tacky label attached with impossible to remove gooey stickum. But THIS one, the Koh-i-noor All Metal Chalk Holder Model Hardtmuth 5343 -- THIS is the Rolls Royce of chalkholders. Large, stylish, incredibly stout, and based on the apparent construction quality doubtless indestructible. I plan to buy a couple more and keep one in my Safe Deposit Box, so I will always know I have one in reserve. Yes, I'm serious. They are always in short supply, and once Amazon canceled my order due to non-availability. I will NOT teach without one, ever again. Follow up -- after several years of daily use and abuse by me and my students, one finally failed. Glad I have a backup. Buy TWO, at least!

High quality product. I really wanted it for Oil Pastels and not chalk (intended use), but the Meeden Soft Oil Pastels I'm using are too wide for this holder. So, to recap: good for chalk, not the best for cylinders wider than standard chalk.

Is it a little bit of a splurge if you’re not a professor who writes on a chalk board for hours every day? Maybe, but I like buying quality and can’t imagine a tool being better made for the purpose of writing with chalk. Feels fancy, holds chalk well. Easy to reload if needed. It’s all metal construction feels durable. I’m expecting this to last as long as I don’t lose it.

I bought this for my son who is in college. He loves it. It is very sturdy and well made and keeps the chalk dust off of his hands while he works on his projects. I found it to be a little heavier than I would like, but my son has no complaints about it.

Love this thing. Students think it is professional grade, whatever that means. Solid and easy to use. My increasingly arthritic hands enjoy not trying to clutch shards of chalk.

Works just as described. Holds chalk well. Looks like it’s built to last. Only slight criticism is I wish the text wasn’t on the side. Wish it was just a solid black all the way around.

I have purchased a large number of different chalk holders in the past several years, to use with classroom chalks. All of them had the unforgivable problem of not holding the chalk strongly enough. Hence, and as one wrote with them, the chalk annoyingly slid back into the holder, rendering the chalk holder useless. The Koh-I-Noor 5343 grabs the chalk exceedingly well and does not let it slide at all: finally a chalk holder that does what it is supposed to do. If I can suggest one improvement on an already great product, the Koh-I-Noor 5343 chalk holder could benefit from a pocket clip, as it comes without one. In spite of this small detail, I wholeheartedly recommend this chalk holder.

Vamos a ver: -Los portatizas de plástico, por ejemplo los conocidos de la marca Giotto, se terminan rompiendo, con el tiempo el plástico no resiste la presión en la boquilla, y además se terminará soltando el botón de la parte de atrás. -Otro modelo que he visto es aquel en el que girando la base se empuja la tiza: ese es todavía peor, cuando se estropea el mecanismo, la boquilla por sí sola no hace suficiente presión, y sin el tope por abajo, se hunde la tiza en cuanto presionas en la pizarra. Sin embargo, éste...es el definitivo. -Metálico, boquilla metálica, aprieta de maravilla, nada de hundirse la tiza, ni siquiera intentándolo a posta. De hecho, tiene un agarre tan bueno que puedes apurar la tiza prácticamente hasta que queda un culín de nada, cosa impensable con los de plástico. A veces la tiza se rompe por dentro, pero supongo que eso es casi inevitable, y en todo caso puedes apurar perfectamente los cachos. -Sólo vale, claro, para tizas cilíndricas. -Es metálico entero, da sensación de que te va a durar toda la vida; pesa más, claro, pero bueno, se soporta y da más sensación de control a la hora de escribir sobre la pizarra. -En el que mandaron a mí no pone Milan, sino la marca alemana de material de oficina Koh-i-noor hardmuth, pero incluso eso me gusta. Si rebuscan en la página inglesa de Amazon aparecen otros modelos de portatizas que tiene también buena pinta, metálicos y hasta con clip de agarre para el bolsillo, pero son ya importación y cuestan más caros. En fin, a mí me parece recomendable.

Best dart chalker I've ever owned. I little pricey but worth it. I bought another because it was on sale, but still have my original fully functioning one I bought about four years ago. It's being used for darts. There may be a few beers involved. It may have been dropped more than it normally would have been, say, if it would have wound up in the hands of a grammer teacher, but it's fine. It's like it was built for abuse. Buy it.
