Secrets of Divine Love: A Spiritual Journey into the Heart of Islam

I can't quite put into words how beautiful this book is! I am a muslim girl of the age of 26 and I have grown up with a conservative upbringing. I am from a sunni/shia background and I have always been drawn to the harmony between them, the kindness that the prophet saw teaches and the love and mercy that is so prevalent in the religion of peace and surrender. I have been on more of a spiritual path and I was recommended this book by the wonderful poet Sukina Pilgrim, she read extracts from it on her instagram account and I was in love straight away! Most books about faith and religion can be quite formulaic and serious however this book is like a love letter, a warm gesture and a gentle yet profound exploration of very important themes in Islam. What is truly incredible, however, is it has shown the true face of the religion because many can ponder on the words and be from different backgrounds. Aesthetically it is so pleasing and the quotes embedded in each chapter have been carefully and wonderfully chosen. It has been such a beautiful journey reading this and learning about the rahma and kindness Allah wants for his people. In addition to this, the general theme promotes the idea of returning to God, no matter where you are. Going to him as you are and as you come. It is extremely liberating and provides a vast and generous vision of God and His laws. This is truly a breath of fresh air. Thank you A.Helwa. MashAllah, such a glorious book!

A work of art. This book is just what you need when you’re going through distress and a rough phase of your life, or just want to get even more closer to your deen. It warms your heart and guides you whilst educating you, and elegantly teaches you about the beauty of our beloved Islam. The author, A Helwa - is amazing! She beautifies Islam, the teachings of our beloved Prophet (SAW) in such a heart touching way, you will feel so proud to be Muslim. It enlightens your soul and further guides you to your deen - constantly reminding you to stay connected to our faith and Allah (swt) our creator. You 110% need this book in your life!! It will bring you even closer to Islam, and make you fall in love with our beloved faith at every page. A majestic book which enriches the soul, and is written in such a warm, easy to understand yet beautiful way. May Allah reward the author for the amazing content. Ameen. Do read!! This book is by far the best book i have read, uplifting the reader using Islamic quotes (Quran and authentic hadiths, quotes from past Sufi scholars, quotes from imam ali (ra) ).I have felt distant from religion and spirituality recently, but this book was such a refreshing take on islam and my own faith.I loved how the writer emphasizes Allah's love and this book helped me through a hard time in my life both in my spiritual life and my day-to-day life.It has connected me more to my own faith, while shedding the fear i previously thought religion was about. Love this author and have read this book so many times ! recommended for Muslims and also non-muslims who are into Islamic spirituality! :)

i just received this book and have already read a whole chapter or two on it..yeah, i know..i’m a book worm lol. it’s very heartwarming to read and a must-have. it explores the relationship with god and literally anyone can read it - u don’t have to be muslim to read it. due to the fact that i am a muslim, i connected to it a lot more and it was very beautiful to read..but even if u aren’t a muslim, do get it. it reminds u of god’s mercy and His unconditional love for us. it inspires us to seek guidance from god. a.helwa is a very good writer, i love her work :). it’s got like 300 pages so it’s really good to re-read again or go to a specific part when u need the message the most..

Wow, what a find. This book is a treasure trove of wisdom, spiritual insight and love. This book is for anyone and everyone who is searching for that something - spiritual and meaningful. As a Muslim, it was a re-affirmation of the deep esoteric tradition practised by Muslims all across the world. There isn’t a single line in the book except that there was a lesson to learn. A Helwa has a gift in writing, her command over language both in the written form and the esoteric language of the heart is an absolute delight to mind and soul. Each chapter was memorising and uplifting, recently I listened to the audio version. It’s like mediation, a feast for the soul. I wish her all the success and look forward to more of her work.

I'm only my quarter way through this truly life changing book. The gems upon gems that I've come across, it's almost as if the writer is a friend who is advising a lost, searching for myself soul. I've highlighted so many sections of this beautiful book but so far there are two sentences that I love so much. "You are not a product of chance and luck. Allah wrote your story with the pen of mercy." The second, "If the creator of the universe saw you as worthy enough to be created, then how can I not love you?" I could go on and on and on about how amazing this book is. How it hits your heart in a way many other books haven't. But please, just read these two passages from this book and understand that this is a book worth reading, reflecting, sharing and pondering over. If you want to read a book and smile from cheek to cheek with conviction that you have a Lord who is all Loving! Then this is the step that you should take. Say Bismillah, it's a buy you wont regret. 😊

A beautiful book which was recommended to me by a friend and I couldn’t feel more enriched as I did after reading it. Regardless of if you are not a religious person, or someone who is Muslim but may not follow it fully, or someone who does follow Islam to the latter and maybe you just want to know more being a non Muslim. This book brings a understanding to all aspects of Islam without confusing you. It is written in a way for you to understand it As well as using amazing stories and quotes by amazing Muslim poets and my favourite is the Mulla. Each chapter is broken down. For me it was an awakening. I used various texts from it and forwarded it to my friends or my family who may of needed to hear something truly special and moving. I’m not just saying it but it’s a great book if you want to understand Islam as a whole.

Secrets of Divine Love came highly recommended, and that makes sense to me. It's a heartfelt and passionate Islamic devotional text that would probably work strongest if you are already a Muslim. I may not be one, but I was deeply impressed by A. Helwa’s eloquence, sincerity, and unwavering love for her faith. Her explanations of Islamic principles were enlightening, and her poetic language, scientific metaphors, and Rumi quotes offered many gemstones. I came away with a richer understanding of the Quran and a deeper appreciation for Islam’s beauty. For devout Muslims or spiritually curious readers open to traditional monotheism, this book could be transformational. I bought a second copy for my friends, which speaks volumes louder than anything I can say in this review.

One of the best books written on Spirituality and relationship to Deity I have ever read. As a seeker of love and Christ, my previous experience with Islam was one of legalism, reward-seeking, lacking Jesus and the message of the Gospel as well as excessive priestcraft in the guise of an abdication of direct relationship to mediated in “scholars” / imams. This work not only gives the direction from the Quran and Hadith that we are to have a direct relationship with Deity, it also shares the good news that we are loved by Deity and that we are created to have abundant life, growth and joy. The message of Jesus the Messiah and the truth that G-d is love is laid open for anyone to see in the Quran in a manner I have never seen before. Secrets of Divine Love is truly a gift and I am grateful to have found it. I am almost done reading it again. Since my first encounter, I have returned to solitary prayer and practice of this beautiful religion. I still shy away from those who want to make it culturally Arabic or excessive or interpret personal hate with the Message.
