A work of quiet genius. Devour it whole.

Paedophilia, incest and the choicest of language. None of this mentioned in the rave ‘best coming of age’ story ever reviews. Perhaps I came of age in the wrong time, but this was simply not pleasant.

It still made me cry towards the end of the comic. I feel like there should be more to the story. Perhaps a sequel and/or a prequel. I would like to read more about Enid and Rebecca, to find out what happens to them as they get older. I would also like to read more about them as little kids and what experiences they had as they turned into young adults. This comic just like the movie, made me think about my teenage years and young adulthood. Made me think about the past and downtown. Riding the bus and walking around the city. Getting to know my neighbourhood and local restaurants. Talking to guys and trying to get along with the girls. I recommend this comic book and to watch the movie after reading it. It has some strange features and some disturbing views, but other than that, it has a good plot.

Ghost World is melancholic and sad, and very similar to that part of your childhood you can't seem to shake off from your recurring dreams. Must-read.

Listed as Ghost World: The Screenplay, but really it's the 23rd edition of the original graphic novel - which I already have.

The movie strays from this material quite a bit actually. So it was great to read the original...
