The S550 was actually really easy to put together
The S550 was actually really easy to put together. I was skeptical when I opened the box and didn't see any instructions but that was really no problem once I got started. If you had an erector set when you were young this should not be a problem. It took me a bit longer than it might have because I didn't want to strip out any of the screws. The frame is solid from top to bottom except for where the legs attach to the bottom PCB. I could just be a bit paranoid that the flexing might crack the PCB on a hard landing so I took a couple single sided PCB boards and drilled some holes in them and sandwiched the PCB frame between them and mounted the landing brace on the frame to reduce and spread the stress out so it would be less likely to break on a hard landing. It just flexes a little too much for me but other than that I am very pleased with the frame. I’ll probably have other issues on a hard landing but I can afford to replace some propellers I just didn’t want to risk having to replace such a nice frame if I don’t have to.

High quality drone frame
This is a good frame, it was a little hard to build without instructions but you can build it using the photos. This is a great frame so far, I needed one this big to attach a paintball gun too it.

A great frame, but gear is too long, be carful
This is a wonderful frame, upgraded from my S500. However, the bottom plate cracked at the landing gear, the very first time I flew. It was not a hard landing, but the legs are very long and the slightest push on them and their mechanical advantage simply has enough force to break the attached plate. I would saw the length of the legs next time in half to lessen the force to the plate. Sure wish I could afford another one, but just can't at this time.

Big. No instructions.
There are zero instructions but if you’re building a drone from scratch you better be able to figure stuff like this out! Buy the frame, if you can’t figure out how to put it together, you’re not smart enough to drone. In addition to the frame you need six motors and ESCs, a radio controller, a flight controller, and maybe a camera. The frame is by and large the easiest part. This drone is BIG. 21.5” across the arms without the props. 31” diameter with the props. You need some space with this one, and when you spin up the motors and props the first time it is truly terrifying.
