Fast moving fun
Young readers of both sexes should love this. They will be drawn in by one quick look because of the clever way the amusing line drawings are inserted into the text on almost every page, starting with the first, where we see Desmond lying in bed with a monster emerging from his stomach. Who will be able to resist reading enough to discover what that is all about? The plot develops quickly, and the humor is kid-friendly. The book will appeal to boys more than most juvenile titles, but at least one girl who read this is waiting eagerly for the sequel to come out.Definitely not for families where Halloween is a forbidden topic.

You will laugh from start to finish!
I laughed until I cried from start to finish of this book. Took it into my 4th grade classroom. The kids went nuts! Had to raffle off chances on reading the book. I have a 10 student waiting list! My librarian saw the book and she is going to order it for the school library! Thanks for putting this book on your website.

Wonderful for boys who like graphic novels!
Cute series, my 12 year old started reading it a couple years back and really enjoys the mix of stories and pictures. He is a graphic novel fiend so it is so nice to find longer reading books that still keep him interested.

Perfect for fans of Lio!
I'm a big fan of Tatulli's comic strip Lio, so when I found out that he'd written an intermediate illustrated novel, I had to have it; and it did not disappoint.

Great book
My 7 year old son loves this book. Every night the question is "what's Desmond gonna do now?" It is a great mix of pictures and words for a first grader. Vocabulary is perfect for a child looking to get past the early reader books and start chapter books. Very well done.

Kids love it!
The tale of Desmond Puckett is a natural magnet for kids! Desmond is lovable, imaginable and just plain fun! Gave this as a gift to my nephew on Christmas and the next thing I knew he was sitting with his book, totally absorbed into Desmond's world! Very happy with my purchase!

So for a young reader it's not a good thing. My nine year old didn't like it ...
My issue with this is that it is American in language (spelling and usage) and culture. So for a young reader it's not a good thing. My nine year old didn't like it at all. PS I'm far from anti-American but this is confusing to a learner.
