Cointelpro: The FBI's Secret War on Political Freedom

This book is extraordinarily biased, and makes numerous analytic leaps that aren’t entirely justified. The FBI was definitely used incorrectly in many of these instances, but the author is hard-bent on pushing a Socialist Workers Party agenda.The author appears to back up analysis with the documents provided. Anyone who doesn’t read them very well, then critically evaluate the analysis presented by the author will likely buy the resulting assessments. But the author is working from a place of hatred against FBI and the current US Government which taints their math.I would not buy this again, as I have needed to squint and tilt my head to the side to make large swaths of this book make any real sense, or learn from the content.

Truth on a new level

While not covering all the related programs (for instance, operation Gladio in Europe, others in Africa and Latin America), it is vital to see the detailed workings of such programs along with their "cousins" such as Operation Northwoods, which give us a window on military planning to do exactly what we have seen happen on 9/11 - terror which can be blamed on the targeted groups we call "the enemy". Along with Seth Rosenfeld's "Subversives: The FBI's War on Student Radicals...", it is difficult not to see the pattern of US hatred of the Left and the worldwide outcome of that hatred. While many Americans have fallen for the lies and myths coming from our government ever since 1947, those who have questions about that propaganda will find much factual support here.

Am I now on some watch list for ordering this book? Probably not since I'm an old white guy.

This country always try to play the good guy to the world but, at home, America is truly run by the Devil. The things that they do to hold people down is quite disturbing. You don't play they're way, they will destroy you. They don't want minorities as equals, they want all minorities beneath them.

This book will shatter the nieve perception most Americans hold as to the freedoms we possess, and the general view of our government as a fair and just organization. Ignorance is bliss, but knowledge is power.
