Better Than My Deceased Instant Pot 12/24 Update
12/24 Still going strong, no issues! I needed a larger pressure cooker after my IP simply stopped working. I've used a smaller one on an induction cooktop, but got out of the habit with the IP. This is a well made unit, with an inward curved top that makes it easy to rinse beans, etc, pour off the water without spilling the contents. For pinto beans I soak minimally or not at all. With the top off, I set the induct. ion plate to high just long enough to see the very beginning of a boil. Then I drop down the temp to low, cover and walk away. No hissing, nothing but well cooked beans in a couple of hours, maybe less. You will need to calibrate for your heat source, but I bet it will be shorter than expected. The extensive cookbook is designed for folk in India. Apparently people there READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, as they are detailed and important. Parts available! A respected manufacturer for decades, not some fly-by-night importer.

Leaking lid , pathetic gasket, but seals eventually
Lid is quite difficult to seal. It keeps leaking out no matter how many times I re-center-like over dozen times, on side fixes, the other leaks, ... Is the pressure supposed to build up more to seal? been going steam coming out for 10 minutes and no seal of lid. Poor design, it is a very small gasket that for some reason creates leaks on one side, and does not seal the entire thing. Now that I waited over a month to use it. Guess what? 65 bucks down the drain. I already have a 5L regular pot. POS Update: I find the stove has to be high to build enough steam/pressure inside to push the ring seal against the pot. I find that if I let it reach good steam and hold the handle down (forcing extra pressure of pot to the ring on lid, dang thing finally seals, and seals good. So, I guess it has to be high enough heat to create a good pressure in the pot even before ring seal seals.

Lid doesn't fit perfectly, has leaks, even with new gaskets.
I've used a Hawkins aluminium pressure cooker for years, and it was great, but I gave up on it because of aluminium toxicity. I bought this Stainless Steel one, and it leaks. On its first use, I spent like 5 minutes to position the lid, so it won't leak. After I got lucky, and found a the perfect position, it worked normally until next time. Fitting the lid perfectly is a gamble. It sometimes fits, but then even if it moves for even 0.2milimeters, it starts leaking. I switched the gasket 2 times already with the original Hawkins gasket bought here from Amazon. When I wash the pot, I always make sure to never damage the gasket. I never dropped the pressure cooker or its lid, or done anything to damage its form. It also doesn't look damaged, so I doubt something happened to it during transport. So yeah, it leaks unless you get extremely lucky. You can't rely to use it as a pressure cooker, but as a regular pot with a lid. It's definitely not worth your money!

I love Hawkins
I was bit skeptical to buy this product after reading mixed reviews but I must say it's a great one. I have seen in my family using Hawkins products and I just wanted to give it a try and I love it. Good product, cooked 4-5 times now, never spilled except once but I put too much water. Overall I like it.
