Is the security bracket on the 7.5 inch side? Or the shorter 7.25?

I need to attach a 4" flexible hose to this and vent to outside via soffit vent. Can this accept a hose and vent to outside?

Yes You can I attached this to a 3" flexible hose, I didn't have the adapter, but I used duck tape surround the joint, It works good !
