Couldn't Really Ask for a Better Windscreen
I love this windscreen - the Tascam DR is so sensitive to wind because of the high quality condenser mics that this accessory is pretty much a requirement if you're recording outdoors. Only the gustiest of winds will get through it. It does get in the way of the headphone jack if you like to live monitor your recordings (which you SHOULD be doing at all times), but that's not the windscreen's fault and you can work around it - it's more of a design oversight with the Tascam DR series themselves and not worth deducting a star for.

DR-07XP - It fits, but is huge.
The wind-screen is built well, with a strong elastic and two handles. However, the product picture shows it being much closer to the width of the dr-07xp, and it's significantly bigger. Room for the A-B mic pattern, and then some. Not returning, but I do wish it was either less bulky or had a stronger hold, with the caveat that as a street journalist it makes it very annoying to hold in a pocket in a rush, and I've had to tether the windscreen to the lanyard hole so I'm not fishing around in my pocket when there's sudden action. probably fine if you're doing normal field recording stuff, so I've bumped it up to 4 stars, but it could be improved pretty simply with either better elastic, or a way to fold in the side puffs when not using an AB configuration

Works extremely well, more transparent than the cheap knockoffs (I A/Bed them)
Recorded a concert outdoors in windy conditions. No wind noise. It does muffle the high end, but less so than the cheap knockoffs available on Amazon. (I did a direct comparison, recording my stereo in the living room with each windscreen). But, I was able to restore the high end with EQ in a mastering application on my computer (Izotope Ozone) with excellent results. The highs are attenuated, but still captured.

Don't try and save money, buy the real deal from Tascam!
I've never understood how these things work, but they do and this one not only works, but fits the Tascam DR-05X. Don't try and save money on the after market ones, spend the little extra to get the real thing. I'm working on a new video which features the DR-05X and the audio is amazing, and it was so windy that day on the boat. Great, great item!

FIts my DR-40X fine, works well
This is a great product for my Tascam DR-40X. It take a minute or so to figure out the easiest way to put it on so it will stay on. It's a bit finicky, but by my third attempt I had no difficulty at all. No problems later. It stays on securely, even with rough handling and high winds. Works as well as any dead cat microphone cover.

It works, but slips off too easily.
Although it fits over the DR-40 unit OK it slips off easily, especially when you try and connect a headphone in the jack. So you constantly have to be careful about moving it around or it just slides right off. The problem is the elastic band around the bottom is too tight and puts too much pressure around the neck, which is causing it to slip off so easily. (Sounds counterintuitive, I know.) It does the job of killing most wind noise but it really needs a redesign to be fully functional.

Did not out-perform other off-brand windscreens
I had high hopes for this WS-11 Windscreen as I needed something to muffle out moderate wind noise while I make insect recordings. Because it's made by Tascam specifically for their DR-Series units, I thought it would be superior. Even moderate wind noise is evident, and distracting. I put it on my DR-40X I also placed a rubberband around guards to keep the microphones from being pushed to the center when the Windscreen is on. If there is a better Windscreen for the DR-40X I'm still hunting for it. I find that this WS-11 performs equally with others that are offered by other companies at a much lower price. I'd pay a lot for something that works, this isn't it. I only took away one star as it seems well made, and fits on my Tascam unit. If you have a 3 mph breeze or lower, you'll probably be fine. Even 5-10 mph gusts will cause you to start your recording over again.

Works great - cuts out almost all of the wind noise!
This windscreen worked great, eliminating most of the wind noise I was getting on some outdoor recordings. It's a little tricky to install on the recorder, but once you put it on a couple times it gets easier. Overall highly recommended!

Works in the dark, wash !

Being the genuine Tascam wind sock it worked well. Most importantly allows for setting microphones in AB configuration. Sound quality good. Wind noise rejection good.
