National Hardware Lever Latch, 1-3/4" Hole Spacing, Zinc Die-Cast, Black

This latch was easy to install, and looks great on an old, 1" thick wooden storm door. It has a thick ceramic-type coating over metal. The lock mechanism is smooth and easy. This is a screen door latch and it is not expected to protect Fort Knox. Given the appropriate expectation, this lock feels quite secure (especially compared to my prior rickety latch). Previously reviewers are correct that if you drop the latch on a hard, rough surface, that the coating may chip. I dropped my latch from 5 feet a couple of times (butter-fingers) onto hard brick, and the coating did chip, but really you would have to expect that of any type of metal finished product. So it really should not be down-rated for that. The tiny chip was minor and cannot even be seen in the attached pics (and touch up with a little black magic marker is all that is needed). A better solution is just to put some old rags under the door when working on it to make sure that the latch doesn't hit the bricks if you happen to slip.

This worked out perfectly for me, I didn't have to drill anything except for the door catch, the handle fit exactly the way it was supposed to after my old handle wore out. Great price, very easy to install and use, great quality product!

Bought this to replace an identical item that broke. After four years of use an internal piece of metal broke so it would no longer lock. Guess metal stress from lots of use. Installation was easy since it was a straight replacement on a metal security door.

I bought this because my previous handle was made with a large percentage of plastic. This one is all metal and the quality is apparent. I like the simplicity of the design as compared to the push button designs as there is less that can go wrong. Having said that, I sadly had to return the item as it is just a bit too large to fit my door (not enough space between the jam and the width of the door frame). Several people have mentioned, and this stumped me too: There is no drilling/offset template despite what the instructions say. I even went to National Hardware's web site and people there were complaining about the same thing. If you can figure out the spacing and have a wide enough door (from edge of door to edge of where the screen is), I'd recommend this.

Easy to install and works great on my patio door. Very stable and high quality. We have had it on the door for a few months now and still very sturdy.

Cheap . Internal components broke in about 2 months. The outside handle fell off and the collar inside was cracked in half .it looked nice while it lasted but you get whay you pay for with this one. Would not recommend.

This was a good replacement for my old broken Larson handle. Note you’ll likely have to cut the square bar that goes between the two handles. It’s a universal handle so you have to fit it to your door. I have plenty of tools so it wasn’t a big deal, but just relaying the info that’ll you’ll probably need more than just a Phillips head screwdriver to install this. I also had to use a drill/drill bit since one of the latch screw holes didn’t line up with my old latch. Also worth noting this handle mounting footprint is smaller than my old one so you can see the outline from where the old one was installed, it wasn’t a big deal to me but maybe for others.

I'm giving this product 3 stars as I was eventually able to get in it to work and it has held up. This was very easy to install and as I have a thick screen door was one of very few options I could find that would work. The reason it isn't a five star product was because literally 10 minutes after I installed it my kids were running in and out of the house playing and pulled the handle right out, breaking the weak steel clamp. As upset with the product as I was for failing so quickly I was able to take it apart and fix it with standard super glue. To the handles credit I have had it on now for several months and it has worked great, looks great and I haven't had any additional issues with it.

Works great! Very strong and durable!. Handle is nice to hold and use. Locking mechanism works great. Dog can't pop the screen door when running at it anymore with this door handle on it and holding it securely.

Very nice handle. I replaced the door handle on our gazebo and it was a perfect match to the original.

4 stars only due to short and medium length screws provided. Had to hit hardware store to get ones that were proper length.
