Great quality but SUPER NARROW SHOULDERS
I ordered a 2x just because I got it for such a good deal. Figured it would be way too big but with free returns I tried anyway. My measurements 38DDD with broad shoulders. 34 waist 46 hips. I buy most my fitted coats in an xl- I have a llbean puffer in an xl too that fits perfect. However i wanted space to layer because I know this coat is rather thin so I thought I'd need a 1x. Expected 2x to be too loose. The 2x arrived and I'm glad I took the chance. Wearing a typical Hanes tshirt the shoulders and arm openings feel perfect- very fitted. I hope a hoodie won't be too big under it! A 1x would have been a tight fit with even just a tank top on! There is a lot of space in the waist chest and hips - yet narrow shoulders! How does that work?! But the size in the rest of the coat will definitely accommodate layering and I have tons of movement in my seat. It's also worth noting that Columbia states it's an 'active fit' and the coat would be larger on bottom to allow for active sports. I think the lines make the jacket appear flattering despite the fact it's 'too big' for me in the waist and hip. If I had narrower shoulders I'm sure the 1x would be much more fitted and hug me all over for a more 'flattering' look but I really don't think they made this coat to compensate people layering under it! Additional review - comparing to other columbia coats- I own a few columbia coats. 5'5" 215lbs. 38ddd chest. Normally even with my build I fit into xl coats and clothes in brands aside from columbia. Columbia runs smaller than other brands, so I know to order up. ALSO- columbia adult coats always seem to have short arms!! I don't mind, they work for me but for someone with longer arms- be aware. Fits great. Seems warm. Light for the size/thickness of the jacket. More form fitting/flattering than on model shown. Also seems a little shorter than shown. In comparison to the 1x powder light columbia coat it fits same in size, but is shorter than the powder light. In comparison to the 2x mighty lite jacket the mighty lite jacket has extremely narrow shoulders. And the 2x mighty light shoulders fit the same as the 1x eclipse. So if you have broader shoulders the eclipse is fine. 2x mighty lite is much larger in chest and waist (despite having narrow shoulders! Someone explain how that fitting is suppose to work to me lol)

Best winter jacket I've ever owned
I live in New England, and I've been looking for a decent winter jacket. I have long and short down jackets in different weights, a layered hiking jacket, and a variety of other winter jackets. This one has replaced them all. I wear it when it's 50 degrees and damp; I wear it when it's 7 degrees and brutally windy. I wear it hiking. (For those of you familiar with the area, I hiked to the weather observatory at Blue Hills, up to the top, where the weather instruments are, and I still wasn't cold.) I wear it walking. I wear it on the train on my way to work. I wear it in my office when I get chilly. I never get hot and sweaty (hot flash-resistant technology), and I never get cold. I don't know what kind of witchcraft is involved in this omni-heat stuff, but it's amazing and the best. The jacket is also incredibly comfortable. It's lightweight, thin, easy to move in, and fits well. I'm 5'8" and have long arms, broad shoulders, and a long torso -- it's very difficult to find women's jackets that fit. I bought the xlarge and it's loose-fitting but not in an unflattering way. I would love to get an ankle-length version of this jacket. Also gloves. And pants. And a hat. And a house made of omni-heat. I would like to encase myself in omni-heat until late June. The only negative for this jacket is the hood. It's useless. It's small and there's no draw string or way to keep it on. But that's not really a big deal when you consider all the great stuff about the jacket.

Love this jacket!
Love this jacket! Finally a plus size jacket made for actually plus size women. Let's start with the fit. If you're plus sized you know that most jackets can have weird fit quirks. Big in the chest but nowhere else, tight in the arms, no room to move. I'm a size 20 without huge boobs and an average looking, although large frame. This fit awesome. It's super comfortable and i have room for comfy sweaters or layers underneath. The length is great. Not too long, not too short. Covers your bottom when you sit but not cumbersome and bulky. The zipper can unzip from the bottom while still zipped up top to give you extra comfort while sitting (because we don't all sit prim and proper with crossed legs all the time). The jacket feels light and is not bulky at all with flattering seaming but it is warm. There are thumb holes to keep snow out of your gloves. The pockets are deep enough to actually use and put your hands in. There is an inside pocket to hold your phone, even a large phone, with a button hole for feeding your earphones through. The only feature that it doesn't have and would be a bonus is a drawstring for the hood. This is my go to jacket now for everyday wear don into the 20s and 30s. I have a heavier down parka for heavy snow days and playing outside for extended periods but this is comfortable and warm enough for regular winter days. It packs up small and I use it a lot for fall hiking and camping. Great buy!

Flattering, light & warm, but not for really cold climates
Overall I'm really, really happy with this purchase. The jacket is flattering, light and pretty warm considering how "thin" it is. The thermal layer really does work! A couple of points to be aware of: 1/ Sizing is tricky! This jacket has an hourglass shape, but is still fairly narrow in the hips/bust so depending on your shape you may need to go up to a larger size. I usually order L, but using the Columbia measurement guide (I went to their website) I had to buy XL so it could comfortable fit around my bust & hips. Definitely measure & order based on your bust/hip size if you want to be able to zip it up and/or wear a layer underneath. 2/ Sleeves are long. Don't know why, but the sleeves seem abnormally long. They cover half my hands! Perhaps it's because I got the XL size, but it does seem a bit out of proportion. 3/ It's warm, but not arctic warm. I'm pleased by how warm it is (compared to it's size/thinness), but there's no way I'd be wearing this thing below freezing. Perhaps I'm a wimp, but it just wouldn't be warm enough for me. IMO it's good as a fall/spring jacket and for moderate winter weather, but you'll need something thicker/warmer for serious winters. Other than that this is a winner & a keeper for me.

Now in my top five coats of all time
I don’t write a lot of reviews but this calls for one. The short of it is- it’s a great coat, you should get one. The long of it is- overall warm, light, total windblocker. Not bulky, quite fitted but still great freedom of motion. With a thin under-layer just as warm as my puffy down coats but don’t have to feel like a mummy in this one. But the details really make it, they’ve actually given some thought to design function. Pockets are soft and fuzzy inside . Interior pocket well placed upper left breast, with zipper. Sleeves are long enough (!) with nice knit inside cuff and thumb holes if you want a little extra hand protection. And my fave- when you zip it all the way up to your chin, they’ve added a little “tab” of soft fabric that folds over the top of zip so it doesn’t scratch you. That is the deal clincher Such a nice feature! And the zipper is installed in such a way that it does not catch the fabric when you use it. Hood good. Also like the quilting stitch design , and perfect length too, long enough cover thighs but short enough to go easy in and out of car. Don’t wanna wear it out, cuz I Hope they don’t change it before I want another one!!

This is my second Columbia Omni Heat jacket. They're fantastic!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this coat. Last year I bought pretty much the same jacket only the shorter version that fall just to my upper hip. I still love that one, but realized that on very cold days it would be nice to have something a bit longer. And, the longer jacket looks a bit dressier. This jacket is so so so light weight and that's what I love. Bulky down jacket are so uncomfortable to me that I feel ridiculous in them. When its cold out I want to be layered and I don't want my movement restricted. This jacket is going to have you moving about freely while still keeping you warm with their omni-heat thermal reflective lining. There is nothing worse in the winter than trying to manuever around in those bulky coats. You try to get in and out of the car and you've got reams of bulkiness all around you. This jacket has none of that. In the interests of helping you decide, I should tell you that I don't easily get cold. If I was one of those people who needed a jacket as soon as the temperature dipped below 80 degrees then maybe this jacket wouldn't be as warm as some of those bulkier ones. I just don't know. All I can say is that I feel cozy in this. There are good pockets in this.... two outside zipperable size pockets and one inside upper left pocket with a convenient hole for poking headphones through. I personally wont be using that feature but it is a great selling point for some folks. My only complaint? I wish there wasn't a hood. I'm just not a fan of hoods and don't actually know why designers feel that winter coats need them. BOTTOM LINE: A great jacket that keeps me warm without restricting movement.

Oddly warm
I went back and forth over this coat for almost a month. I read reviews, I read info from an outdoor gear testing company (which rated the Mighty Lite slightly warmer than the Heavenly), etc. I’m in the Chicago burbs and it gets cold and windy here. I ordered and returned the first one, a Large because it was too tight around my hips. (I’m 5’5” and 170, size 12 jeans) I reordered and then returned an XL because there was a manufacturing defect in the stitching. So finally I got my XL. It fits perfect and I can easily wear a sweatshirt underneath. The sleeves are a little longer than I’d like but my previous coat of another brand they were much too short so long is fine. Pockets are a little low for me and length wise the hem hits a couple inches above my knee which is perfect. I say it’s oddly warm because it is. This coat is extremely thin and very misleading. I thought no way was this going to be comfortable. It’s now seen me through a handful of recess duty (45 min outside in the cold not really moving a lot). I wasn’t cold, I wasn’t hot, I was just perfectly comfortable with an added hat and mittens (and winter weight clothing-I usually have a sweater or cardigan or something with my outfit in winter.) It was low to mid 30’s and a little windy. While I wouldn’t wear it on recess days in the 10’s and 20’s, I have an 850 down for that, I’d definitely wear it for shopping, and out and about errands on those days. This is really a great coat so far. If you’re on the fence, grab it!
