So after about a year and a half the drive failed. I called HGST for a warranty replacement. They told me that the drive was an OEM drive, and I would have to contact the reseller. I thought I was out of luck, but contacted SERVERPARTDEALS. They got my information, sent me an RMA and they are taking care of it. I would definitely order from SERVERPARTDEALS again.

Had to repair disk errors after a couple months of use when the drive suddenly became inaccessible on my network server for no obvious reason. Not too happy about that. But still working after a disk scan and repair (and being backed up just in case). I don't like feeling unconfident about large disks with lots of data.Update 6/1/18: Problem happened again. More bad sectors (growth errors) found. I'm trying to return it but Amazon says return expired a month after purchase. I tried to RMA via HGST but S/N came up not eligible. What the heck is happening here. I contacted the seller to see if the could help with a replacement or return. Really Amazon?!?Update 6/2/18: Got a hold of Amazon rep via online chat (buried but it exists) and they made an exception to their return policy and will refund the drive. Kudos to Amazon Customer Support! NewTronic Systems also sent me an email willing to fully refund. Great customer support again! Apart from having to restore the data with a backup, I'm happy but the drive still gets the lowest rating possible for failing.

I was in a desperate situation with a server I manage and needed assistance ASAP, or we risked losing critical data. The company saved the day, shipping the disk immediately and providing excellent customer service. Our system is back up and running and we couldn't be happier with this purchase. Thanks!

Came same day and works exactly as described. SMART shows the drive as new and I was able to rebuild my 4 drive RAID 6 in about a day. No issues so far, quiet and cool.

The large capacity is nice, but it's so loud when idle I had to move my external enclosure to a new spot, and even then it's still very obvious. Considering I'd had that same enclosure below the computer for years, it's quite frustrating, and very upsetting from a brand I've never had an issue with up until now. I can't wait for Solid State to hit a density to price point similar to these...

I do no believe I received a new drive. My drive had an existing partition (in my experience, NIB drives come completely unformatted) and CrystalDiskInfo says it has been through 25 power ups and 3 hrs of use. Not astronomical, but having just installed it, I went through about 4 restarts and an hour of use. However short the time, it looks like someone else used it. Not knowing what it was used for, how careful they were, or why they sent it back bugs the hell out of me.

This drive works beautifully and works as it should. Highly recommend.

I have now used the Hitachi Ultrastar He8 for a couple of month and they have worked flawlessly. I tested them before putting them to use. It came out fine and since being used they have been very stable. It has not been used under extreme conditions, but there seems no indication it could not. I'd buy it again.

Ich habe in meinem Server noch 2 ältere 2TB Hitachi Ultrastar im Einsatz, die sehr ruhig laufen und mit über 43.000 Betriebsstunden und 16.000 Start-Zyklen einfach nicht tot zu kriegen sind.Darum sollten es für den neuen Pool auch wieder Ultrastar werden, leider haben die HGST die Vibrationen von ihrer Konsumerserie Deskstar geerbt so dass das Gehäuse trotz Gummilagerung und Dämmung das Rattern anfängt.Für einen leisen SOHO-Server absolut nicht empfehlenswert.

Statt zwei neue 8GB Platten habe ich zwei alte gebrauchte bekommen. Sehen Sie bitte das Bild. Also, nie wieder.
