let's add some noise :)
if you ever used a tube head amp or any other tube amplifier you are familiar with that typical noise they add to your circuit. In no way different with the MIC500USB. Would rate it at about 20dB. No time to measure yet as I am still trying to get it working. However, the noise level of the C-1 then becomes irrelevant. The C-1 itself is a lot of mic for little money. I wanted a large diaphragm (condenser) mic mainly for voice recordings. And because I like large capsules as they are more like an instrument than just a microphone. If you want to put your voice into the spotlight or get this "sounds like a record" feeling, the C-1 is your friend.Small diaphragm condensers are realists, larg diaphragm condensers are romantics:)- MacOS works out of the box, but no monitoring at laptop computer level. You can use the pre-amps headphone output for if this is your only source.- CentOS 7 the pre-amp is recognized only as output. No recording with Audacity or Reaper possible (this previously worked on this system with an Alesis iO2). No monitor sound, same as Mac.- Fedora 31-33 it is recognized as input device when connected to a USB 2 port and input/output when connected to a USB 3 port. No recording (yet) and no monitoring other than from the pre-amp.pros:- instantly usable on MacOS- great tube sound- good mic for voice and vocals, wouldn't use it for instruments thoughcons:- the mic case in the picture is not included- no power switch on the pre-ampsummary:if you want to sound like a radio host just push some clothes to the side in your closet, put the mic in there, connect mic to pre-amp and pre-amp to Mac computer and talk directly to the mic. Done in a few minutes.Even if I cannot get it working with Linux I will keep it. Thing is: my better half already is using the set with a Mac.So looks like I have to buy another one if I want my own:)rating:three stars because the mic box is not included and it's not just plug and playonly works straight out of the box with our Mac laptop, not with the other two Linux laptops or two Linux workstations and not with the dedicated Fedora Jam box.Update:works now w/ Fedora including Jam after the last kernel update, still no luck with CentOS 7upgraded to four stars, purchased an extra box for the mic

Thick warm sound
This is my second one it’s simple but effective…it adds a nice warmth to every instrument. Easy plug in and play.
