my home office turns into an oven come summer and with no windows to open my only option is to use our air conditioner constantly even though the rest of the house doesn't always need it. free space to put a fan in my office, well there isn't any. barely have room to set my cup of coffee down let alone find space for a fan. then i saw this and the design it was like whomever did the initial CAD drawings was thinking specifically of me and those like who would prefer to make use of a fan but haven't the space for one or don't want to be distracted by additional noise. i ordered the unit on a thursday afternoon and was totally surprised saturday morning when our dog started barking because the delivery guy was at the door. just went the basic shipping route so not to worry if time is a factor as this is shipped from right here in the u.s. not overseas. i found the fan to feel solid not cheap like some. the ways you can bend and adjust it, so many combinations possible, far more than you would think from looking at the photo here. there are four points on the unit where you can turn, make adjustments to the unit. one at the base, at the first joint, at the second joint where it connects to the fan. it also swivels both vertically and horizontally at that connection point. so many combinations it's easy to get the air where you want it, exactly where you want it. there are only two speeds low and high but that's enough imho. the fan is super quiet on low and on high still very quiet. if you want a well built, quiet, super flexible/adjustable fan that puts out a good amount of air then this is unit is one to seriously consider. fyi normally we just click the link in our orders to review but it wasn't there this time? maybe because it was shipped out so quickly and then arrived on saturday? regardless i am completely satisfied with the purchase so much so i've ordered a second so i can have one at my work place too.

I work on an Army installation in their computer carry-in center; there is one HUGE window with one SMALL slit at the bottom that allows for...well, for far less airflow than this fan is rated for. Thus the reason for purchasing this. I bought this fan after having read all the reviews; I was cognizant of the 'noise' issue, and I will admit that when I first turned it on, it sounded a bit louder than your normal fan this size might. With that said, unless you're one of those who requires COMPLETE quiet when working, the noise is not even an issue. It has two speeds; I normally use the low speed when I simply need some airflow, and I use the high speed when I need higher airflow for some reason (e.g., when I come straight from the shower after having done a CrossFit WOD on a hot day and need the increased airflow to cool myself down). The mounting clip is quite nice, and is pretty much strong enough to mount this in any position you need it. One caveat: Get yourself some canned air and blow this thing out every week or so. After months of leaving this running constantly (yes, you read that right - this thing has been on for FIVE MONTHS straight without issue), I blew it out and almost suffocated on the amount of dust within. LOL That's my own fault, however. I highly recommend this product.

I had just purchased this fan, and am quite pleased. What I like most about this is how many different positions you can put it in to use. For a desk fan this thing kills. It was the only one I saw that could be mounted sideways or even upside down. It blows well on 1, quiet enough, and on 2 it really moves air, but it a bit louder. If you are in an office of people, you will not notice, but if you are in a quiet office with few people, or alone in a room. you will hear it. but its pretty good. I had to rate this 4 starts only because I will also admit that I had purchased this from an Amazon Deal. it was not in a new state. so I would not be discouraged, but had received this fan in a state that it was not operating well. The fan was slow, and seemed like the motor was sticking. This is also easily fixed. it would have gotten 5 stars if not for that. the design is simple. you can completely take this thing apart, and even break down the motor, (simple and brush-less, no springs, easy breakdown), which means this thing should last forever, because you can always maintain it. Like I had said its was slow when I got it, I took it apart, and Lubed it with PTFE dry lube. Important things to note when taking this apart: There is an image on another comment here that shows all screw locations, use that. super helpful. Make sure you have a T20 Security torx(hollow center) with at least a 3 inch shank to get down the screw shaft. a standard 1/2 inch T20 security torx bit will not work, because the Bit sleeve it too large to fit down the screw shaft. There is 4 security torx t20s on the back. The rest of the screws are PH2 size. 4 PH2 screws holding the fan shroud to the face plate 1 stubby PH2 screw holding the Speed switch to the face plate (under the knob) 4 black PH2 screws holding the fan motor to the bottom of the fan shroud and 2 long PH2 screws holding the motor mounts on, and holding the motor together there is also a tiny C-ring approx 5-6mm that is on the motor shaft. ( you don't need to remove it to take the motor apart, but if you want to get the drive shaft out of the motor completely you will need t remove it. I applied a bit of PTFE dry lube to the brass bearing on the top, and also the upper and lower motor bearing, The motor comes apart after removing the 2 PH2 screws from either side of the motor. After that this thing was much faster, probably better than new!

The wife and I purchased this for the bedroom. The directional flow property of the design seemed to be what we needed, as only one of us really wanted the fan on at anytime. It fulfilled our expectations, only now after several months of use, it is REALLY noisy. It was much quieter when we first got it. I must admit, it gets an awful lot of use, so maybe it was not designed for such constant use. I am waiting for it to completely break down, and will replace it with a small "flippy" type fan, I've already purchased in anticipation. That "flippy" only cost us $10 versus the $30+ I paid for this one. I thought for that price this would have had longer "longevity". UPDATE: WELL ... IT'S BEEN 3 YEARS. I'VE UPDATED THE REVIEW FROM 3 STARS TO FIVE. FOR SOME REASON THE NOISINESS OF THE FAN WENT AWAY. I HAD PURCHASED THE FLIPPY AND ANOTHER ONE OF THESE FANS. BUT THE FLIPPY IS BEING USED SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND THE EXTRA FAN I BOUGHT SITS IN THE CLOSET, AWAITING ITS NEED. IT IS STILL WAITING AS OF 07-21-12. THE ORIGINAL IS STILL GOING AND IS NOW STILL FAIRLY QUIET. (???)

It's good at moving air: high does a good job cooling me down from Texas heat and low is a nice breeze. It is quite loud though, and the clamp you need to mount it any way other than upright is very large and clunky. Tiny annoyance is there is no spin corrector so the air doesn't leave the fan straight, so to get the air you point it left of you when upright.

My Intended Use: personal fan at night for breeze and white noise Does this meet my intended use: Yes, and then some. This was purchased for my children to use at night throughout the year. My son has a loft bed and we had numerous fans break due to gravity in the middle of the night. While the other fans that we are were nice in that it provided the white noise and fan, they weren't durable to live up to my sons inability to lie still while he sleeps. So, enter this fan - with it's ability to clip it to the side of his bed and provide him the fan and noise that he needs to sleep at night. We currently only use it on the low speed because it's still spring and it gets cool where we live. Even at low speeds it's still puts out a decent enough amount of a breeze. The arm of this has held up so far to being pushed a few times and not breaking. You don't necessarily even need to use the clip if you don't want to; the base of this fan is flat enough to sit on it's own without the clip in use; and this is how my daughter is using it since she has a table next to her bed. We didn't find the fan sound to be annoying or overly loud - if both my kids can fall asleep to it then it's good enough for me!

I've finally started getting hot flashes. If you already have them you know how miserable they make you feel. I have a box fan running on the floor but it didn't reach my face, neck and chest which is where hot flashes tend to strike. I decided to look for something that would help. I would wake up hot and in a sweat and just couldn't get a good night sleeps. I saw the way this one was shaped and liked the design. I have a desk right next to my bed and decided to clip the fan onto the desk. The fan also swivels in and out so I can push it out of the way when I get up. When I go to sleep I pull it in so it hits right in the areas I need. The fan is two speeds, low and high. Both work great. I've felt the tingle of a flash but with the fan on me I never broke out in a sweat. It has really helped to make my nights sleep bearable without running my husband from the room because its to cold for him. Its a great compromise to put the air right on yourself. I'm sure people have other uses for this fan, for me, it sends me to sleep with a smile on my face. The air is cool and comforting and really helps to relieve the misery of hot flashes.

*update 6/24/13* I have since taken the fan to work with me and it works well on a thinner clamping surface. I like the versatility of putting the fan up off my desk, saving desk space. I retract my statement that the clamp is not useful. I've had a number of desk fans from the Vornado to Holmes and I can honestly say that this fan is a nice little desk fan. I like the vertical profile because it takes up a lot less space on my desk On low it provides a nice, quiet, comfortable airflow. On high, the noise level increases quite a bit and the airflow doesn't seem to be that much more. The clip is a great idea, but needs to be re-engineered. I was going to clip it to the bottom of my window, but the clamp doesn't have enough gripping power to hold the fan in place. The edge of my desk is too thick for the clamp, so I couldn't try that out either. Overall, I believe this fan is worth the money. Here's a quick breakdown: Pros: Small footprint Quiet on low Nice airflow Cons: Kind of noisy on high setting The clamp was not useful to me

Cabe en todas partes por ser ligero y delgado, cumple muy bien su función, y lo mejor de todo es que es silencioso, además de que el clip se arma fácilmente.

Tres silencieux et efficace

Excellent fan. Pretty powerful. Very versatile with the clip or as the desk fan. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is that when I use the it upside down with the clip, it makes a super loud knocking noise. To get rid of the noise, I have to place it horizontally for a few minutes and then bring it back to the upside down position. This small inconvenience was not enough for me to return it as the positives outweigh this small negative.
