Changing review. At first I thought it worked like a charm. Looked like the original, easy to install, no problems. 3 months later and it was leaking oil like crazy. My guess is, it is because of a substandard o-ring. The OEM part from VW costs only$2 more but I had to do a full oil change again to replace it, so absolutely not worth it.

Always keep on eon hand.
If you own a VW you should always keep on one hand. Sometimes the little lock tab breaks off, some times it doesn't. Does not matter if you change the oil hot or cold.

Poor quality, started leaking
I've used three of these on my VW during oil changes, replacing them each time. This last time it started leaking after 8 months, short of the required maintenance schedule which forced me to change the oil early. I used a VW OEM to replace it and the difference was noticeable as it fit much tighter than the Dorman. Due to lack of durability I won't be using the Dorman again. It's a poor quality product and it actually isn't significantly less expensive than OEM.

I installed this Dorman drain plug during my last oil change on my 2018 Tiguan. Was a bit noisy when I screwed it in tought it was normal. No leaks at first but after 2500 Km I noticed traces of oil in the snow underneath the car. I drained my oil in a clean pan and reused the old OEM plug with oring lube because it obviously started to leak badly on a Friday evening. Will purchase OEM from now on for next services. Lost about 600ml of Liqui Moly. Stuck with a second Dorman Drain plug that will End up in the garbage. Good Thing I always check my dipstick and parking area periodically. I don’t recommend this product as it caused me alot of downtime and stress. Be carefull when Amazon mentions compatible with your véhicule! Louis G.
