Wish it was Longer
I love the concept. I wish there more words included. Children really want to know the origin of words, so it's a great book to have on hand. However, it is disappointing when an asked about word, like spaghetti, is not to be found here.

Great but not as many words
I really like the idea of this dictionary but it didnโt have near as many words as Iโd have liked. My son needs a dictionary for school and I thought this would be a good option and yet I still find myself needing to look up words for him online.

For adults too
Really bought this for myself, an adult native English speaker. I enjoy reading this to learn about origins of English American words.

Great for Teaching Kids Etymology!
As a fan of Jess' books and her Words Unravelled podcast, I bought this for my kids so they would learn to love words and etymology as much as I do as an English teacher. Very satisfied with my purchase!

Great book for children
Really interesting book. For my 7 year old, who is frustrated by how difficult English can be to spell, these insights into how words came to be is fascinating. She is definitely enjoying both diving in to the book and taking a more chronological approach. Some of the words are tough for her to read, but mostly it's pitched just right - certainly from a comprehension point of view. It's quite interesting as a grown up too. This view of how the English language works/is and why is one rarely taught in schools but useful for comprehension as well as curiosity. Recommended.

Received a damaged book
Received this lovely book today, however it has come with huge creases in the front and back cover. It was packed neatly so was clearly bent and damaged prior.

Good book but has an error
The prefix 'un' is mentioned as meaning 'one' while the real meaning is 'not'. 'Uni' means 'one'.
