Buy Simple & Safe Baby-Led Weaning: How to Integrate Foods, Master Portion Sizes, and Identify Allergies by Malkani, Malina (ISBN: 9781646111947) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Easy enough to read in one evening - The best thing about this book is its simplicity. I read it at the very beginning of my BLW journey when I knew very little about the subject and had found myself somewhat confused by the conflicting information and advice I'd found online. By the time I finished reading (which only took an evening as it really is an easy read), I had a thorough understanding of how to approach BLW and felt any concerns I had (mainly regarding choking and allergies) had been addressed. The book is split into three useful parts - the first explains why BLW is a good approach and how to know if your baby is ready and also gives tips for beginning the process of BLW successfully. The second part explains how to make balanced meals for your baby and how to prepare a large selection of first foods safely. Part three goes into detail about food allergies and how to expose your baby to foods that typically cause allergies safely. All in all, a must have if you are just starting out on your BLW journey! Review: Evidence-based - not a recipe book - This book was just what I was looking for. I didn't want recipes or how to make the perfect puree - I wanted to know how I can encourage baby to become an independent eater, and give her all the nutrients she needs when she needs them. There are chapters which are short, to the point, evidence based: e.g. how and when to introduce different textures; how to balance the meal (protein/fruit or veg/carbs); how to encourage baby to feed herself, and when to tell she is ready for the next stage. Also a chapter on the motor development and when you can start to progress to a different portion size safely. Before I had this book I had started to puree everything and exhaust myself by buying endless pots, putting this in the freezer, buying pouches - but I feel like I've been set free! I have been using the book for about two weeks and this morning baby tried a bit of my boiled egg while we happily ate breakfast together (she's just six months). She is already able to pick up bits of food and feed herself. This book has just given me the practical tools to feed my baby and managed to free up my time because now when I eat, she eats and I have actually stopped having worry about whether I have puree in the fridge - and of course it's one less thing to stress about! Highly, highly recommend this book. Be warned: this is NOT a recipe book - if that's what you're looking for I would recommend the traditional Annabel Karmel book (which I also have).

Good book
Happy with the pictures of the foods and how to cut them, it dosent have soo many words like other books which is great, dont need to read a novel to start solids. Good info on gagging and chocking. Missing recipes of foods like baby pankcakes and fritters and all. Would be better with recipes.

A helpful guide
Lots of useful and balanced information on the benefits of baby led weaning. Ideas on first weaning foods and how to offer them safely as finger foods. I was concerned by the allergy swap advice - soya is not a suitable swap for a baby with a cows milk protein allergy as many babies react to both dairy and soya. Oat milk is a much better option.

Helpful, clear guide to safe BLW
As a second-time mum, I wanted to remind myself how to safely wean my daughter - what food is best for her, what is bad/unhealthy for babies, and how to safely prepare her food in terms of size and consistency. This book gave me all of this information very clearly, as well as some other useful hints and tips (eg rolling avocado in seeds to help babies grip it!) - highly recommend!

Good simple book in regards to knowing the basics to weaning. I wish there was more visual recipes but the information is good.

I purchased a few BLW books and this book was the best. It is easy to read, practical and informative. It provides guidance on how to cut/serve food to a baby new to BLW through to toddler age. It gave me confidence to start the process. Bub is thriving and loving his food. I highly recommend this book
