Peace of Mind
***UPDATE*** My daughter ended up using this for two years. It never sagged or got an indentation. It was so easy to clean and air dry. I only stopped using it when my daughter got too tall for a crib and I got her a twin bed. Another bonus - since this is such a high quality mattress, you can sell it when you're done. I sold mine at a local consignment sale for $50 after two years of use - so happy I got this and if I had another baby I'd buy a new one to bring them home from the hospital to. I never put any sheet or anything on it. I highly recommend HALO sleep sacks for babies and toddlers. No need for any sheets or blankets on the bed. ***ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW*** When my daughter was around 6 months old and learned to roll over, my husband and I were scared half to death to frequently find her face down, hands cupping her cheeks, during her naps. We would immediately turn her head to the side and a couple times she gasped for air when we did. Some people tried to assure me that, once babies can roll over, there's nothing to worry about when they sleep since they'll automatically turn their heads when they need air. However, after looking into it, I found research that babies who are used to sleeping on their backs, once they finally roll over and sleep on their stomachs for the first time, have a 20% or so higher chance of suffocating than infants who sleep on their stomachs from birth, because they aren't used to it and sometimes don't rouse themselves in time. We weren't able to sleep without constantly checking on her. I researched options and found the Newton breathable crib mattress. After reading everything on their website, I decided it was the one. It doesn't off-gas, it doesn't have chemicals, it's mostly air. We ordered it on Prime instead of from their website directly to get faster shipping. Once it arrived my husband and I, like others here, tested it by pressing our faces down against it and trying to breathe - it is a bit stuffy, of course, but you can breathe. And it doesn't smell like anything. No need to air it out before baby uses it. It is more firm than our "firm" crib mattress we were using previously. Our daughter doesn't leave any indent in it at all. It looks incredibly easy to clean; just use some cold water. It's some kind of polymer in a 3-D web. The cover is padded but has holes and layers so that it doesn't block air. Don't put any sheet or water-proof cover on this mattress, as that would block the air. It really doesn't need those things, since even if pee leaked or spit up got on it you just wash it off. It has nothing that could get moldy like other mattresses. Of course, we don't want to teach our daughter that it's okay to sleep with her face down, so if we find her like that, we do turn her head. But now we aren't constantly worried about her suffocating if we happen to not notice her being face down. For peace of mind, I highly recommend this mattress. We're going to move our daughter back to her original mattress once she's a toddler and save this one for when we have the next baby.

NEWTON BRAND CRIB MATTRESS
NEWTON BRAND CRIB MATTRESS 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This product provides more peace of mind for a parent than any other baby product on the market. This mattress is fully breathable leaving no worry or concern for your child’s wellbeing while they are asleep. We’ve ordered this product multiple times, one for each of our children, despite the steep price, because it is that quality of a product. The outside lining of the mattress is easily removed with a zipper and is machine washable. However, the inside of the mattress can be simply washed and cleaned with a hose or in the shower. It’s water proof and is best rinsed off in the bathtub if a bathroom accident occurs. We simply leave it out to air dry after it’s sprayed off and have never had a problem. Products that are necessary, quality made, and safe are worth the elevated price to me! This product is a nonnegotiable in our household and I hope it’ll be a staple for your family too! Lastly, if you purchase a transitional crib, one made to also be used as a toddler bed too, you’ll be able to use this mattress for years. The crib mattress is large enough to grow with the child and made to accommodate cribs style starter beds ranging all the way through the toddler years.

Peace of Mind
We initially bought a Serta foam mattress, but I hadn’t taken out of the package yet as I didn’t like the way the mattress looked through the packaging. When I read reviews on it many people warned that it dipped after a few months. So I quickly started researching a great mattress that had quality, breathability and easy to take care of. And I came across the Newton infant/toddler mattress as one of the highest rated and recommended ones by many of the websites I visited. Honestly, I am so thankful we made the investment. Sure $300 for an infant mattress sounds expensive, but you can’t put a price on life. The mattress is breathable, so you don’t have to worry about them rolling over and suffocating. It’s also very comfortable, my baby sleeps great and the durability of it seems like he can sleep in it until he grows out of it. Also, I love the fact that it is 100% washable. Overall it gives me peace of mind when I place my baby down to sleep.

Excellent mattress !
Excellent mattress ! I am so glad that I came across this mattress! We initially purchased another common brand with a Sheep logo. Not only it's wrapped in hard plastic and absolutely unbreathable, but it was also exactly 2 inches short on each side of the crib leaving ginormous gaps between the mattress and the crib. The manufacturer's comment for was that "their products meet safety guidelines ". Needless to say, that mattress went right back to the store. After research, we decided to purchase a Newton mattress and We could not be happier with the purchase. It fits the crib like a glove. It is so well made. Perfectly hard yet soft and most importantly it is 100% breathable. I literally face planted into the mattress and was able to breathe without any issues. I love it and highly recommend it for all of the babies out there.

Love it! Best crib mattress you can buy
I love this mattress. My 7mo daughter started to roll onto her belly at night. She would face plant right in her standard crib mattress. and although she was sleeping, I was not. I would roll her back over every hour throughout the night because I was so concerned she would suffocate. No longer able to take the anxiety, I did some research. I literally googled “best breathable crib mattress” and the Newton came up in every article. I read all reviews, good and bad, and decided to make the purchase. I am SO glad I did. To test it, like any weirdo mom, I smooshed my face in it as hard as a could and breathed for a few minutes. No obstructions... except maybe my own smooshed nose. Also worth noting, it seems much more comfortable than your standard crib mattress that feels like a pile of cardboard. It has a lot more give- which I’m ok with since it is actually breathable. I find that my daughter seems to stir and whine less at night. My assumption is because it is, in fact, more comfortable. Also worth noting is that there aren’t any toxins or nasties. A++ would recommend. Worth every penny. My only complaint is that it’s slightly larger than a normal crib mattress and it’s kind of annoying getting it in and out of the crib to change the cover. But really that’s nothing compared to sleepless nights and anxiety over the safety of my child.

LOVE THIS MATTRESS!
Update: We have had this mattress for almost 2 years now, with continuous everyday use and at least 1-2 times a week of washing the cover. We still have the original cover from when we first purchased it- it's holding up great. Oxy Clean spray has taken out any yellowing from little nighttime accidents before I washed it. The inner core is doing well too! My son absolutely loves his mattress- he is almost 2 and has 3-4 hour long naps on it and 12 hours at night. On vacations it's a little rough because we can't take it with us- he doesn't sleep as good and it's really hard to get him to sleep without it (using a pack n'play mattress). If only Newton could make one for the pack n' play for travel!! My son also sleeps facedown.. literally.. and it's so nice to know he can BREATHE right through the mattress. So nice and reassuring for this worrisome momma! Original post: I love this mattress. Seriously, you cannot go wrong buying this mattress. Best Baby purchase we've made so far. Pros: 1) Washable. Yes, WASHABLE!! Every single aspect of this mattress can be washed and cleaned. Pee on the mattress? No big deal, just zip off the mattress pad and throw it in the wash. The actual mattress part is a giant entanglement of biodegradable, safe plastic. When I first got the mattress in the mail, I soaked in the bathtub with some tea tree oil and then air dried it outside. Super easy. 2) Made with quality materials. My baby sleeps on a mattress 8 hrs a day, so 1/3 of his time is on the mattress. I wanted something that was safe (no fire retardants or PVC materials). 3) Breathable. According to the website through their independent study (I understand this isn't maybe as factual as a 3rd party study, but still valid) they have found a way to significantly decrease the risk of SIDS death. This is immensely comforting as a first-time mom knowing that if my baby rolls over in the middle of the night, he can't suffocate while sleeping. Cons: 1) Not cheap. This was a relatively expensive mattress. We tried to justify it by the pros and that he can use it in a toddler bed as well. All in all, LOVE THIS MATTRESS!!!

An OCD parent's DREAM. PLUS, great resale value since it's 100% sanitizable/washable
If you wound up on this page, it means you've done your research. Even if you buy an "Eco" mattress (i use the term lightly b/c the term "eco-friendly" is not regulated in the US), think of the HYGIENE FACTOR. Pee and poop, no matter how much you scrub, can get entrapped in a mattress FOREVER (shudder). Let's not even talk about dust mites! Well, since the Newton is 100% washable due to the open air system, bodily fluids, crap, and bugs do not even STAND A CHANCE. The extra bonus is the resell factor (How'd you like $150 cash back in your pocket?). If you live in a metro area with strong secondhand market for baby goods (i.e. Craigslist, Facebook groups, parent bulletin boards), the Newton will easily retain 1/2 its value since it's 100% washable and sanitizable. In the land of pricey baby stuff, this mattress is high up there with the Stokke Tripp Trapp and Baby Bjorn Crib, both items that retain about 1/2 their value on Craigslist. All parents want the best for their baby, but NO ONE wants to buy a used mattress, unless there is a way to guarantee 100% cleanliness. But with the Newton, you can! Give it to a friend or get some extra cash for it, knowing there's no ground-in poop to pass along. As for the mattress experience itself? No off-gassing (i ripped open the plastic packaging from it and there was no smell whatsoever), super light (weaklings can easily carry it), it's springy yet firm, made with top quality technology. I wish they made a full size version for adults (seems the project is in the works). A pretty good investment, in my book.

Absolutely love it
I love this thing. No, really. It is amazing, and I would 100% buy an adult version if they made one (PS: Please make one!) My child was an early roller and actually went back to front before rolling front to back, which is not the “normal” order of things. So there was a period of time when he would roll to his tummy in the middle of the night but couldn’t get back. It was concerning, but I managed to sleep because I knew he could still breathe. Now at 6 months he can roll both ways, but these days he flips on his tummy to sleep and stays there the entire night. He literally starts to roll as soon as he hits the mattress, and he often has his face partially buried. If you have a baby that does this, then you know how concerning it is with the SIDS risk, but also how pointless it is to force them to sleep on their backs. I have never put him down to sleep on his tummy, but he literally flips that way within 2 or 3 seconds. This mattress gives us such peace of mind. Baby loves it and sleeps great on it. It’s nice and firm. Cleaning it is super simple and the mattress pad that comes with it easily zips off for washing. Now that he’s older we do use sheets on it - we use the A&A sheets they recommend - but I have also used it without, and cleaning is not a problem. Also, it fits our ikea crib great with no gaps. Yes, it is more expensive than other crib mattresses. But you are buying an amazing piece of gear that baby will use for years. And it can be washed thoroughly for later kids and even recycled when you are done with it. I am a minimalist and did plenty of bargain shopping for baby, but there are a few things worth spending real money on. This is one of them.

Great breathable mattress for our tummy sleeper
Great mattress. Our son is a face down tummy sleeper so this has been great for putting my mind at ease. I’ve tested with the cover it comes with, plus the waterproof cover added and a sheet as well and I can still breath through it with my face pressed hard against this mattress. It did come with a slight plastic/chemical odour as some have noted. But I cleaned the mattress as per instructions. I put it into the shower and rinsed it off with some vinegar. Also machine washed the covers. No smell after that. Cleaning it was easy as well. It is pricey but after seeing for myself how breathable it is I am okay with the cost. I just hope it will hold up over time.

Just amazing
High-quality breathing mattress for baby. You can place you face directly in it and breathe normally. Puts you at ease knowing baby can't suffocate if he or she roll on there belly. Would give 20 stars 🌟 🤩 ✨️ also very comfortable. Waited 9 months to write this review so all parents please do your self a favor and buy it, I know it is pricey but so worth the good night sleep and mind at ease.

Worth the price
I think that it’s washable and breathable. I was cosleeping and the baby transitioned and slept in this with no issue from the first night. He seems comfortable and since he became a stomach sleeper at 6 months I am not as concerned letting him sleep on his tummy with this mattress since it’s breathable. I’m using the Burt bees organic crib sheets on it and they fit great. It’s also light so not the biggest deal that I have to lift each edge above bumper pads to change sheets. I would recommend this mattress , it took me a long time to figure out what to buy and I’m happy that I went with a cheaper crib and a more expensive mattress. ***update*** My son is now 20 months old and this mattress is still fantastic. He turned into the biggest vomit machine and being able to zip the mattress cover off throw it into the wash has been everything! I can literally hose down the mattress too when needed. He can get really warm when sleeping and I can feel that he sleeps cooler on this compared to his baby bjorn travel crib when we travel. $400 is a lot but when I look back at some of the money I wasted on baby items this still remains a smart purchase. And since I’m determined to never let him cosleep with me again , there have been some nights I have gotten into this crib to settle him down and fell asleep and I even found it comfortable!

It’s perfect
I am not sure if I received the waterproof one in error or this is actually for the waterproof one. The ad seems to be for the regular one and that’s what I thought I bought, but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and it was in fact the waterproof one. It’s an excellent mattress, seems really high quality. Fits my standard crib perfectly. Was packaged really well. Love the peace of mind it gives me that my baby is safe if he rolls over in the night. It’s firm but also soft and my 6 month old slept through the night on it first night we switched it out so he seems good with it too. I went with the grey just in case it gets stained it would hide it better than white would I think. Really like the cloud design on the cover as well, very cute. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a breathable mattress or a new parent worried about carbon dioxide poisoning/SIDS.

Purchased twice in 2019, with no regrets
Great mattress. My son sleeps well in it. Mattress is breathable, easy to clean/wash, very comfortable. We usually give our son the bottle while in his crib.. so there has been disasters with milk being everywhere… we took off the covers and put them in a washing machine and dryer. 2 hours later brand new crib mattress. We were travelling back and forth from Toronto to Vancouver before the pandemic.. and so we had purchased two… now the extra mattress is for guests and their babies that stay over… gotten many compliments and questions on where to purchase this mattress… one said it would usually take them hours to put their son to sleep and one night on this mattress their son fell asleep immediately after. Don’t think twice about purchasing this mattress. It’s one of my few favourites/recommendations for newborns/babies! Trust me you won’t regret it.
