Modern Witch: Spells, Recipes & Workings

As a beginner this is good book for getting the basics of a lots of different topics in one place. Always cross reference and research each part in another source. This author uses some terms incorrectly and uses stuff from a closed practice without even explaining it at all. If you repeat that in other witch communities you will get roasted and shot down. Still worth a read, we can always learn something even from the worst books.

This book is truly amazing and is packed with a lot of useful information, instructions, and advice towards the do’s and dont’s of the craft. Some spells are so amazing that you have to try them. Great author and a really good book to read.

I have been looking forward to this book for quite some time, and it did not disappoint in the slightest!I have thoroughly enjoyed every single one of Devin‘s books, and this one was no exception! I have been a student of the craft for a couple of decades, and this book proves that you can never stop learning. The way he explains the concepts and practices snapped things into focus for me in a way that I hadn’t really thought about before!I love his approach to spell work and the way you can manipulate each spell to suit whatever occasion or person that it is being performed for. Sometimes, explanations of spell work in books can be tedious and read like stereo instructions, but Devin puts things plainly and simply without dumbing it down whatsoever.The addition of all of the stunning photographs makes this book absolutely breathtaking. It is something I will be proud to display on my coffee table. And the fact that Devin did all the photography himself just adds to his many many gifts.It doesn’t matter if you are new to the craft, or a 20+ year veteran like myself. Everyone can learn something from this book. It will be something I will reach for again and again and again!! BRAVO DEVIN!!!

Beautiful illustrations and interesting. I didn't order a hard cover and the outside cover was a little mangled in shipping. I tried to flatten it out the best I could.

Normally I don't leave reviews, but this book was absolutely amazing! Being a practicing Witch for nearly 20 years; I thought this would just be another book like so many others. I couldn't put it down from the time I started reading it. The COLOR photos are stunning; and it provided informative reading even for a seasoned Witch! I am so happy that I purchased it; well worth the money. You won't be disappointed!

This book is a Joy! Informative and FUN, the book opens up the world of spirit and spells in a way that is easy to follow, entertaining and empowering. Very well paced and well written, in an easy to follow conversational style, I recommend this book to the novice and experienced alike. These perspectives will be useful to you, no matter where on the journey you are. I REALLY like this book (I keep going back to it!)

This is the reference I wish I had when I first started in the Craft. This is work of art for anyone looking to get into the Modern Witchcraft, sitting at the crossroads on many practices. Enough to swim in different rivers, enough to have a taste of our true calling. It is accessible, dense of content yet easy to read and memorize if one wishes to. It is like an old friend sharing his secrets and making sure you get the most of it, and the most of your experience with it. It might not be for the most advanced Witch, still I was more than happily surprised. It is refreshing, vibrant, daring, creative, benevolent and in respect to many traditions and the promise than the next generation will be on point.

I am an artist and a visual learner so this book was an incredible joy to read. The photos make the spells so easy to relate to. And aesthetically, Devin did a beautiful job. I’m so excited about doing some spell work after reading this book. It also made me feel that I could use my creativity. Many other books are quite rigid. Great book!

Devin Hunter me impresionó mucho con su trilogía The Witch’s Books. Es un material completamente atípico para Llewellyn’s, que edita libros para fans de Sabrina y Harry Potter, y me alegro de verdad que la cosa empiece a cambiar en esta editora y empecemos a ver obras y autores serios. The Modern Witch, aunque para nada sea vacío de contenido, no es tan substancial y completo como su trilogía anterior. Está claro, es una propuesta completamente distinta y otro formato, más cercano a una revista, comparando con los tres tomos anteriores. Me esperaba más para ser sincero, o mejor, me esperaba algo equiparable de alguna manera con su trabajo anterior. No lo es para nada. En mi opinión cubre demasiados temas y, como tal, lo hace de forma incompleta. Las secciones de astrología y Tarot, entre otras, son del todo innecesarias. Quizás sea de utilidad para el principiante ya que sirve de referencia y estoy seguro que si hubiese llegado a mis manos hace años hubiese estado encantado.Por la parte visual tampoco voy a tirar cohetes. Las imágenes terminan siendo mucho más decorativas que explicativas y tampoco me parecen nada del otro mundo. Es agradable a la vista pero poco más.Muy recomendable para el principiante pero decepcionante para niveles intermedios y avanzados.Por lo demás, para ser editado por Llewellyns que es conocido por editar verdaderas aberraciones, es una edición sólida y de buena calidad y con un precio muy atractivo.

I purchased the kindle edition, only to discover that most of the beautiful imagery isn’t included in that version. Although the text is important, it kind of defeated the object of this wonderful tome, so sadly returned for a refund, and will now await the release of the hard copy (that will get five stars).
