Ware Manufacturing Flying Saucer Exercise Wheel for Small Pets, 7 1/4-Inch - Colors May Vary

All of my pet mice over the past 5 years have liked these saucers even better than their wheels. We owned 4 of these at once, and I've just bought this one for my new mouse only because I donated the others to a rodent rescue after deciding not to keep mice anymore. (After a year of no mice, I couldn't take being mouse-free, and rescued a little boy from the animal shelter.) Easy to clean, long-lasting, quiet (even after a couple of years of weekly+ cleaning and use), and safe. The important thing with wheels, spinners, etc. is to get the right size. I use the 7" for my full grown mice, but had the 5" for when the mice were babies. The nice thing about the 7" saucer is that it fits most mice, whereas a wheel is not as good for larger mice (average mouse size is 30 grams; I had 2 very large girls who were twice that, and one who never got bigger than a 7 week old). If the pet has to arch it's back, or if it's tail is smacking into the wheel as it runs, it's too small. That never happens with the saucer. Yes, they take up more space in the habitat, but it's a matter of safety and your pet's preference. Some of mine liked the wheel, too, others only used the spinner. Even mice have likes and dislikes! 7" is the right size for mice, small hamsters, or any other pet of that approximate size. 5" for babies and robo-hams; they also make a BIG one for rats. Video is my normal size mouse, Daisy, who preferred the saucer over the wheel.

Hamster (winter white dwarf) seems to love this thing. Can't tell if he prefers it to the wheel or not (his cage isn't big enough to accommodate both at once), however he definitely will spend all night spinning around on this. We've been rearranging furniture and moving his cage around a lot lately, so he's been a bit insecure. This has helped as he can sit under it and do his grooming -- he likes to be out in the open while grooming, but this gives him a bit more security. Also, it is almost completely silent -- which is great if your hamster is in your room. One night I had the cage in with me and I would still wake up and hear him running, but it's nothing like the sound you'll often get from wheels. It's smaller than I expected and was worried about him twisting his back or something, but they don't use the same posture as on a wheel so he's fine. And as a bonus it frees up some room in his cage.

I got this wheel for pet mice and they love it. Unlike traditional wheels, there is no danger of trapped tails or feet and to top if off, this wheel is completely silent! It does gather grime on the surface faster than open wheels, but it is easy to clean - just soak it in hot water for a few minutes and it comes right off. Overall I would say this is a much better exercise option for small animals, and it's also more fun to watch them on this. I ordered this item in both the small and large size to see which worked better. My mice used both but the larger size can accomodate several at once, so I recommend getting the large if you have a group living together.

My Winter White dwarf hamster *loves* this wheel! She learned how to use it within an hour, and has been running quite a bit on it. More than she used her 'silent spinner' even! While the wheel is quiet, if you hamster runs very fast it can rattle. A -tiny- piece of tissue paper put where the base connects to the saucer (right on the hole or peg) will help. I've also read that vaseline can help too. It's still a great wheel! Looks to be sturdy and safe. My hamster has ran on it for hours, sometimes very fast, and it is working fine. I'd recommend this saucer wheel to anyone who wants a fun and safe wheel for their dwarf hamster to exercise on! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it isn't really silent without a little tweaking. Not a big deal, but I still took off some 'points' for that.

This wheel is fantastic. My mouse isn't allowed on wire-mesh wheels anymore because his tail has been caught once, even though they claim to be "tail safe", so I'd been using a 8.5" plastic comfort wheel instead. It was quiet, but AWFUL to clean. Every morning it would be coated in hard, trampled feces and took upwards of 10 minutes to clean. What I love about this saucer wheel is that cleaning it is a breeze. The feces generally falls off or gathers in the middle, so it's easy to dispose of and then you merely need to rinse off and wipe down the rest. It's also very quiet, and completely tail safe. My mouse loves it!

We've ordered two of these wheels in the last 5 months-- one of the larger size and one of the smaller. The larger wheel was actually very noiseless-- it was wonderfully silent and the hampster loved it. A few weeks ago it stopped being able to spin freely though-- can't tell what is wrong with it, nothing stuck in there but seems to have just worn down; took so much effort for the hampster to move it that she stopped using it. We figured we'd just order another (though it seemed the wheels should last longer than 4 months from other reviews) and accidentally ordered one of the small size. Our hampster is a dwarf hampster do it was ok but a regular size hampster would not fit well on the small size. Anyway, the hampster loves it again but this one is not silent (not sure if it's the smaller ones in general). Not as loud as some wheels but definitely not noiseless-- and definitely louder than the large one we had of the same brand/type/color.

Der Laufteller macht, was er soll. Er lässt sich schön leicht drehen und hat doch Standfestigkeit. Er ist allerdings wirklich nur für sehr kleine Zwerghamster geeignet.

My hamsters love it . They have forgotten the wheel and run on it all the time .They took some time to figure it out though . Please do not go for the small size. It is too small for even a dwarf hamster ... The medium is your best bet for dwarfs . For Syrians , go for large size

This item is too small for a Syrian Hamster, but works wonderful for a Dwarf hamster. The little guy absolutely loves it. It's a great addition to his little village.

hamsters used it every night and its so not as nosy as the original wheels. Just need a bigger enclosure or cage for them. Make sure you get the right size for the right breed of hamster or other animals.
