Can I use a regular automobile battery charger?

Unless your regular automobile battery charger has a circuit for AGM batteries you risk damaging the battery! Not all automobile battery chargers have this

can someone tell me what size the terminal posts are?

Terminal post is Dia. .325" bolt. Use a 3/8th socket to tighten the bolt

Can you run a 5000 btu air conditioner using a 1200/2400 inverter? if so, about how many hours till the batt. is drained?

For all the people saying NO just ignore them. While true you will need more batteries, A 5000btu AC only draws 500 watts while running. BTU divided by 10. It's the start up that kills. Just buy a soft start for the AC. I run my RV AC all the time off of 500 watts of solar and two 12 volt 100ah batteries. It will run for a little over an hour this way before the batteries get to low. My AC is 13,000 btu with a soft start. People are quick to tell you what you can't do without ever doing it.

This is smaller than the OEM battery, which is (for AC Delco ACDB24R) 8.8"x4.8"x9.3" The Prius doesn't use the 12v battery to start the vehicle, it just maintains the electronics that use the traction battery and electric motor to start the car - very different than a traditional ICE starter battery.
