Yes. It adds a bit of volume, but mostly texture. I use it every day. My hair is thin and straight and it makes it look much better.

Is this good to use with a waving iron?

Oh definitely it is amazing and works great.

Will this take the shine out of a wig?

I haven't used it on a wig may depend on what the wig is made of human hair or synthetic. It's very light touchable, moveable, brushable hold. You might try Vo5 finishing cream after you use hair spray on the wig for shine.
