This is NOT Raid!
It seems that most of the negative reviews are from customers who do not understand what this product is or how it works. Let me be clear: THIS. IS. NOT. RAID! It's actually better! Raid is a chemical substance that is designed to sicken and kill insects almost instantly upon contact. Which is great if you happen to see the bugs and spray them before they scurry away. But what about the other creepy crawlies that might be lurking elsewhere in your home? Bugs, especially ants and roaches, rarely travel alone. So if you see one, chances are there are others that have yet to reveal themselves. And Raid will only get rid of the bugs that you happen to find and spray yourself. Ortho, on the other hand, isn't designed to kill the bugs immediately. Instead, it infects the bugs with a slow-acting poison that might take hours or even days to actually kill them. How is this a good thing? Because it gives the bugs plenty of time to return to the colony and infect the others with the toxin that clings to their bodies. In my opinion this product is better than Raid because it doesn't require you to find the bugs yourself. Just spray around the areas where you have seen the most bug activity (i.e. basements, bathrooms, kitchens, etc.) and voila! The bugs are doomed. Granted, it takes time and patience. Depending on the severity of your infestation, it might take weeks or even months for your home to become completely bug-free. However, you should probably take into consideration that even an overpriced exterminator can't rid you of your bug problem in one quick visit. Most exterminators make frequent visits to your home where they will charge you out the nose just to spray down your living quarters with an almost identical product. Call me crazy, but I'd rather cut out the middle man and save a few Benjamins by doing it myself instead of paying a stranger to come into a house every week to do it for me. I hope this review clarifies any confusion that someone might have and provide future buyers with a better understanding of what they're actually paying for. Update: Something I forgot to mention in my original post is the importance of keeping a clean and dry home. The poison works by attacking the bugs' immune system and making them fatally ill. And just like humans require food and lots of fluids to recover when we're sick, so do bugs. Keeping your home dry and clean as possible will allow the extermination process to work much more efficiently.

Simple and easy a kid could figure it out.
I’ve used this brand before for over 10 plus years and it’s so easy to use. Highly recommend it if you’re having issues with any kind of bugs including mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, ants, flies and spiders. I never seen a roach in my house so can’t speak for that. Maybe it does keep them away too. No smell whatsoever, I have bad allergies and it doesn’t bother them. Great product

It Simply Worked After Other Options Failed
I had a kitchen ant problem for months until I used this product. I tried all the home remedies and then two different brands of ant traps. None worked. I was reluctant to use a chemical spray (though I am a chemist) because I have a cat, but the label promised that this was safe around pets when used as directed. Despite the "indoor" label, I used it both indoors and along the house foundation outdoors. It worked. The ants are gone (and still gone six months later) and the cat is doing fine. What more can I say.

Effective Indoor Insect Barrier With Easy‑to‑Use Wand — Great Results, Slightly Bulky Packaging
Summary: A highly effective indoor insect control product that noticeably reduces pests, comes with excellent packaging, and features a very convenient extended‑reach wand. Works well as part of a DIY pest‑control routine. Details: I decided to cancel my commercial pest‑control subscription and switch to a DIY setup using exterior perimeter products plus this Ortho Home Defense Max Indoor Insect Barrier for indoors. Surprisingly, it worked extremely well. After applying it along baseboards, door frames, and windowsills, I stopped seeing any insect activity — no ants, roaches, spiders, or stray bugs wandering inside. For an over‑the‑counter solution, it performs impressively, and many high‑rated reviews mention similar results. The packaging is sturdy and secure. The container doesn’t leak, and the instructions are clear. The highlight is definitely the Extended Reach Comfort Wand. It makes application so much easier because you don’t have to bend, crouch, or get close to corners and edges. The wand sprays evenly and gives you good coverage without soaking the surface. It’s also compatible with other Ortho products, which is convenient if you prefer sticking with one brand for consistent results. What I appreciate most is how effortless it is to apply a full barrier around the home. Whether used as a preventative treatment or after seeing signs of insects, it works quickly and continues protecting for months on nonporous surfaces. The only improvement I’d suggest is offering a concentrate or powder version. Having to store multiple gallon bottles of liquid can take up space, especially for repeated use throughout the year. A mix‑with‑water concentrate would reduce waste and make long‑term use even more economical. Still, for effectiveness, ease of use, and convenience, this product is an excellent choice for DIY home pest control. What I liked • Very effective — no insect activity after use • Great packaging, no leaks, easy to store • Extended wand makes application easy and ergonomic • Consistent spray pattern for clean barrier lines • Works perfectly with other Ortho products • Long‑lasting protection on nonporous surfaces What could be better • A powder or concentrate version would save storage space • A clearer measuring indicator on the bottle would help track usage

Bug problem? Buy It!
I am normally too lazy to write a review for anything. But I have to write one for this product. I live in Brooklyn, NYC and typically in the summer months I will see a few roaches here and there when the weather gets really hot (and that my neighbors next door are axxholes who doesn't up keep their home). This year I am not sure if it's the hurricane or Covid and people are not leaving too much trash behind, my home had been invaded by those giant American cockroaches. The ones that you see photos in google and just want to look away because it was that horrific. I was so scared that I can't even go to the bathroom at night because I feel like one will be lurking in the dark some where. I was literally a prisoner at my own home because I was so scared of them. I googled everything about how to get rid of roaches. And the more I found out the more that I a scared since they can carry a lot of diseases and get you really sick. Just the idea of using a plate that was crawled all over by these critters is grossing me out. I literally torn my house apart and sealed up everything little crevices I can find and clean the heck out of everything and every time I cooked I mop that kitchen down to spotlessness. That did help a little, but I can still see one of two of these roaches crawling at night. I hate using chemicals around the house unless I have to. But I felt like I have no other option at this point. So, I came across this product on google. I had gotten Ortho for outdoor defense use a few years back and I am not sure how well that worked since I normally don't have a bug problem. I decided to give this indoor version and try. I just received this two days ago. Sprayed down my house yesterday with it. Last night when I went to the bathroom, I saw that one of the roach dead on the floor. It just died! It was like the happiest moment of my life for days that I don't have to worry and have an anxiety attack chasing it down and summon all the courage I have to kill it somehow. I can just grab the dust pan the sweep it away. This product works! I don't think it is something that is like Raid and kills on contact (since that died roach was not near anywhere I sprayed), but it some how does kill it. It doesn't flume or have any strong smell to it. If you have a bug problem like I do, then just get it, because you won't regret it.

Spray sucks
I cant really comment on how well the solution works since i just applied it but i know the outdoor one works reliably, but my biggest complaint is that spray really sucks…. Its so weak and i have to keep pressing it making my hands tired…

Reliable
I’ve tried a lot of bug sprays over the years, and this one honestly stands out. The Ortho Home Defense Max Indoor Insect Barrier works exactly like it says—it starts killing bugs fast and actually keeps them from coming back. I noticed a difference within the first day, especially with ants and spiders that used to show up regularly. One thing I really like is how easy it is to apply. The built-in sprayer makes it simple to get along baseboards, corners, and entry points without making a mess. There’s no strong chemical smell either, which is a huge plus for using it indoors around the family. Another big win is how long it lasts. I don’t feel like I’m constantly reapplying—it gives real peace of mind knowing it keeps protecting for months. Overall, it’s reliable, easy to use, and actually does the job. Definitely a 5-star product in my book.

Does this really keep bugs out of your home?
This bug spray only works if you spray the bug directly otherwise I dont believe it does very much to ward off bugs or to keep them from reappearing. It is is easy to use. The scent was decent not to over powering. You can use it both indoors and outdoors. I do not have time to search for bugs or to spray them directly with a sprayer so for me it was a waste of time. I do not plan on buying this product again. If you buy it know that it effective when sprayed on a bug but does very little to keep them away.
