Difficult -- almost impossible -- to install in a specific Conair mirror
I suspect that many of you will identify and agree with the following. My review includes extensive details that not only includes the difficulty with installation of this bulb, but also includes my solution. My wife values her Conair model BE121, a high-priced but beautiful and highly functional makeup/contact lens mirror. However, the short-lived bulb (for a fluorescent tube) requires a frustrating and difficult installation. The problem: inserting the circular tube into the plastic interior frame that holds the bulb. The plastic “jaws” of this “X” frame are unnecessarily small and too far apart to allow easy insertion of the circular tube. Although the new bulb obtained from Amazon worked before installation, it did not work following installation. It then cracked as I tried to remove it. I cannot determine the fault. Is the bulb too small or fragile or did my installation into the tight frame compromise the bulb? I obtained the authentic bulb directly from Conair. It is less expensive than the Amazon bulb. Before installation, I carefully trimmed a very small amount of the central plastic “jaw” with a rotary tool and resin cutting disc (very thin), thereby opening the jaw a bit. With the greatest of care, I gently but firmly inserted the bulb into this unforgiving frame. It worked. Regrettably, I expect to be back at this chore in about two years.
