I actually bought this for my parrot. I wanted a glockenspiel rather than a xylophone because she would have just eaten a wooden xylophone! I don't know if she will ever show any interest in it (none so far) but I have been knocking out tunes on it to try and get her attention. I have been surprised at how easy it is to get a lot out of one octave. It's very robustly made, with a nice clear tone due to the metal keys. There are no sharp corners or traps for tiny fingers or, indeed, beaks. My only caveat is that the hammer is really useless. It's not anything like the right sort of shape, and I can't imagine what the thought process behind it was. So I shall make something. Generally, though, a very nice little thing for a child (or parrot!)
