Marcy Solid Steel Olympic Weight Bar and Weight Plate Collars Chrome-Plated Exercise Weightlifting Bar SOC-49

I want to start off by stating I got this bar for myself "female" late 30's and to share with my teenage son "going on age 16". I received my curl bar. The box reads Marcy: Contains: 1- Olympic Bar. 47" solid curl bar (fits all 2"/50mm plates). 2 Heavy duty Olympic collars.I purchased these to do some light plyometric training/cross training step aerobics/mixed cardio weights and endurance training. I am a runner, and want to work more on arms. My teenage son will be lifting for track season to build his speed in racing. I purchased 2" Olympic weights to go with this bar, 10'lbX2; 5lbsX2; & 2.5lbsX2 =50lbs. All are 2" and fit perfectly without any hassles. This is just for starters. I probably won't lift more than 35lbs but my teen boy maybe moving up from here. This bar seems very sturdy and we put all the weights on the bar with no problem. It's a solid bar so should be able to take a lot of weight, more than our current needs. I also have weight gloves I would hope everyone has a pair of gloves to lift with to protect their hands. I like this bar. I think for the price it's worth it and I feel like I am getting more than I paid. I took the reviews serious and purchased extra spring collars and they are very nice. This bar is a bar among bars. On either side, you can attach weights. And then, you can lift it up and down and up and down again... until it starts to hurt. I know, I know, it sounds just like other bars, but just listen. This one is CURVY! Yes that's right. Curvy. I couldn't believe it either! How could you even exercise? Well, let me tell you. You can do things for your biceps and triceps that you never thought possible with your straight bars. And the compact size of this thing, it stays steady during these tight quick movements, unlike a large straight bar that wobbles all about. If you want a great arm workout with your existing Olympic weights, go no further, and GET THIS BAR. Seriously though, it's a good bar, worth picking this one if you're looking for this type of thing.

I read the other reviews about extreme angles and crappy clamps. I did notice those were mostly older reviews so I thought I would give a review of what I received a week ago. The bar was exactly the shape you would find in any gym. It was well made and balanced. Mine came with SPRING CLAMPS, which is awesome and they work great. My olympic weights arejust slightly loose on the bar but not enough to warrant a complaint. As far aswhat I received, it is a great value for the money and I couldn't be happier.

I purchased this bar uno order to make use of my olympic style plates which I had purchased separately. The construction of the bar is great. There are no sharp edges to catch skin on and the knurling is just right to get a grip without hurting your hands. The included clips are made of plastic however they are holding up great and do an excellent job of holding the plates in place. I also like the ease of use of these locking clips. My only quibble is that I find the angle of the bends ends to be a little greater. This is not a huge issue but it's worth noting. I would not let this deter you from purchasing this great curl bar. The price is certainly good and the quality of the bar is outstanding. I know that I will be using this for years to come.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this bar. Any other review may be old or received a different or wrong product - but if you are looking for a decent curling bar in this price range - you're looking at it. It's exactly what you'd expect. I was between this and a $70+ X-Mark bar also here on Amazon. I actually intended to receive this in the mail (I saw the X-Mark AFTER ordering) and immediately send it back. But after thinking about it I just opened it up and threw some plates on and it is completely fine. Is the other one nicer? I don't know, probably, but for something like this try and save. Spend more on the better weight set or a good bench/squat rack. The locks that it come with are plastic with a spring loaded cam-lock style handle on them. They rotate completely 360 degrees and every 90 degrees they alternate locking/unlocking. You may be familiar with this type. They are really convenient and work well, but I use them on my leg machine instead since I like the speed but don't trust them to take the abuse of plates cycling on and off so often on the EZ bar. Instead, for another 12 bucks or so, type in lock jaw collars at the top here at Amazon and there are a bunch of good companies that make them; all with high reviews. I use those instead. Other than that, this thing is exactly as pictured and ready to use right out of the box. Also mine weighs about 15 or 16 pounds. They will vary a bit I suppose. Overall, if you're looking at this bar it means that you are on a budget; maybe you're like me and have a few extra bucks to throw at your home gym and need a curling bar. Get it. You'll like it.

This solid Curl Bar is well made and balanced. I seen reviews where people have wrote, with the weight plate collars you can't put enough weight. This isn't true. If you need plate collars there are 1/2 inch wide spring type collars available. Great bar and great price.

Contrary to what some reviews indicated, the angles are great in this ezbar. It is not a deep bend, but a standard ezbar like the bars at all 4 gyms I've belonged to over the years. The clamps work well. The quality is great. I can't believe the price of $35. It's worth $60.

Great curl bar, no issues, super sturdy, weight clamps do the trick but I still use my own. This bar doesn't come with a tiny info pamphlet to let you know proper care/washing/oiling- which is a shame. But that aside, great bar! For those wondering about sleeve length - I am able to fit a 45 and a 25 plate together on there and lock it in. or two 25's and a 10. so if you're looking to curl more than 140 might not be the bar for you. Immediately after opening and using it was apparent this needed to be oiled because of a loud screeching noise from the bearings twisting. The ends use a 10mm Hex bolt. I would recommend buying this bar, a 10mm hex Key, and 3in1 oil. After initial care - everything's quiet, smooth and couldn't be happier. No points docked because bars will always need care.

Great product it works as it should good price and I like the strong collars

Just got it today, it feels very high quality, especially for the price. The grip is rough so it doesn't slip easily but not too rough to hurt your hands. The collar on the other hand, feels a bit cheap made and may break someday but they do work at least out of the box, I would suggest you to get another pair of high-quality ones as a backup. Only reason for 4 stars is I wish the curls has a bit more angle, but I definitely do not regulate buying it.

Been using it for 6 months, no issues. Great bar.

Very good weight bar. I like it. Very good for home workout.
