Listen, if you're into the old school ZELDA and Super Mario Bros.fan for SNES...then you WILL LOVE THIS. The graphics are in fact great! and the story line with the real audio from the film is remarkable. You can tell they put a lot of work into this game. If you love the movies, like I do, then this game is a fun, cute, funny, game that you can either play casually when you're bored or get very much into the action with all the different characters. If you liked Batman 2 (LEGO) for the Vita, this game will make you a cult follower for sure! I saw a lot of reviews about the graphics and game play...uhmm..its pretty much a mix of PS2 and PS3 graphics with a gameplay that allows you to unlock the main characters from the film with or without cheats. In regards to collecting coins, they really make you feel that you are discovering new parts to a level and collecting those coins and unlocking little hidden items makes you connected with the game. TRUST ME, it is a great game to play and really just fall in love with. I am a HUGE critic when it comes to Vita games...maybe because I want them to be better and better. Have fun and enjoy having that feeling of being a kid again with excitement to play this game. ENJOY :)

I'm just going to start off by saying Wow LEGO- you did it again!!! This game, like all other LEGO video games, its incredibly fun to play and be a part of. The jokes are great, the dubbing of voices is amazing since they used the actual voices of the cast of the LOTR from the films. Its easy to play and it offers a MASSIVE map of Middle Earth that has endless secrets and items to find. I sat down and played this game for 6-7 days, only stopping to eat, go to the bathroom and sleep and only then did I fully complete the game. You can chose from a wide range of characters with different, unique abilities (for example Sam's main weapon is a frying pan & he can cook, make fire and even use his Elven Rope he got in the FOTR) from Frodo to Sauron. The graphics are superb as well. Even during climactic scenes (no spoilers i promise) the games deals with it seriously, but with a silliness that's characteristic only to LEGO. Multiplayer is fun and easy with split screens and ideal for playing with a friend or child. Wonderful, fun, funny and really cool. 5 stars!

Fun for the whole family!
If you are a Lord of the Rings fan or just a lego game fan this is a great game either way. But especially for LOTR fans it really does a great job bringing you into the LOTR world as well as lego LOTR world. My kids think some of the silly antics and things are absolutely hilarious and it really helps make the game lighthearted and fun especially for younger ones. The video clips are very well done. I have seen the full put together video on youtube and it really is quite incredible! The best parts are the disco song we love it. "Release the river!" "Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered. Ride Now!" Although inevitably someone wants to do disco and the other one is being serious and doesn't want to because then it makes everyone dance LOL! So you have to make sure both players are wanting to have fun and be silly like with the disco phial, hair brush, skeleton etc. or be serious and move along the game. Either Way this game is a blast for the whole family especially for the LOTR fans.

Good Game, Fun Game
My kids really like this video game after seeing most of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It's nice that it is faithful to the story and mostly to the movie. I like that it has the Lego characters saying actual lines from the movie. It gives it a more realistic feeling. It has a lot of challenges to keep the kids thinking and problem solving, certainly challenged. I also like there is no blood. Even when you have to defeat an army of orks, killing them just results in flying Lego pieces, which is nice. I gave it 4 stars because of two things I didn't like. First, the main story line of the game was concluded to quickly/easily. I think they should have made it more difficult to get through the main part of the game and destroy the ring. Even with very limited playing time each day and not being experienced gamers, they had the storyline complete in 2 weeks. Luckily there is a TON of free play and quests to do after that so they are still interested in playing it. Related to this there was a LOT of stuff a long the way that you couldn't do anything with because it was for a later free-play section, that was pretty frustrating for the kids (and me). Second, the bad guys sometimes send you on quests and promise to do nice things for you. For one thing this is not very realistic. But it mainly bothers me because I don't like the blurring of the lines between good and evil. If they are the bad guys, then they are the bad guys and you shouldn't be given quests to give them fancy weaponry or whatever so they can teach you how to fight better. I'm sure many people won't care about that. But it does bother me. Overall a good game and I would recommend it.

The Best Way to Explore Middle Earth
I didn't buy this for my kids (girl, 6, and boy, 2). I like that the content is pretty much age appropriate such that they can play it and they can watch me play it without me feeling too badly. But that's not why I bought it. This is the best way to explore Middle Earth as portrayed in Peter Jackson's films. Ostensibly, the main focus of the game is following the events of the films and books. But that will only take you a handful of hours. The real fun comes from exploring the nooks and crannies of this recreated world. It's not as sprawling as, say, Skyrim. But all of the major locations of the film and books are present. You can, in fact, just walk straight from the Shire to Mordor. There are dozens of characters to unlock, side-quests to complete, and items to craft. The difficulty of the main quest is pretty low. I'm sure my daughter could beat it if her hands fit the DualShock better. But many of the puzzles to be completed to unlock those characters, finish those side-quests, etc., are gnarly. There is a pleasing depth to the experience. The graphics are gorgeous. The soundtrack to the film is borrowed and expanded and lends your gaming sessions a feeling of magnificence. I was initially disappointed by the brief and easy "main" game, but once I started digging into the game that opens up after you have "beaten" it I forgave all. Highly recommended. One of the most fun gaming experiences I've had on the PS3.

A Good Family Game
Hey, wouldn't it be awesome if Travelers Tales made a Lego "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"? Until that time comes, we have Lego Lord of the Rings. If you are looking at this product, you have probably plaed a Lego game before. If you haven't, this a good game to start your experience with. These Lego games just keep getting better. There is a lot to do and a lot to explore in this game. My son is 4 1/2, and this game is just a bit too difficult for him to play by himself. However, if we are both playing, we are able to get through the levels together. When playing with young children, there is no shame in using some of the cheat codes for more studs, invincibility, etc... or for sitting there playing while your ipad is open to a walkthough for getting through some of the places where it is not quite obvious what action is needed to be taken. The game is still fun for me to play with him, and challenging to him without being impossible, and the it keeps the story going. Much more faithful to the movies than I expected. There is a lot less comedic relief in this game than other games in the series, but it isn't scary for children. My favorite parts of this game is the battle between Gandalf and Saruman, and the fight between Gandalf and the Balrog. It was also great to walk around and smash things as an Ent.

Best Lego Game Ever
My son and I own all of the Lego video games and this jumps ahead of the others in a number of ways. First of all, it's the first Lego game that includes the actual audio of the scenes from the movie. The Lego humor is still there though. For example, in the movie, Frodo discovers there are words on the ring by the heat from the fire. But in the game, he accidentally drops it in a cup of hot tea. So little things like that still exist throughout the cutscenes and make it fun and humorous. It makes it interesting for adults to see how Lego worked humor into a serious movie like this. Plus there are some new elements in the game that I haven't seen in past Lego games. The only cons would be around the darkness of some of the game scenes. You may have to turn up the brightness on your television. This I think is partly due to the fact that some of the environments look so real, or less "legoy". Like the water for example. Also, it is better suited for a large flat screen, maybe 32 inches and up, because there is a lot going on in some parts of the game and it makes it a little hard to clearly see everything in two player mode.

lustiges spiel
