your "full length" robes say they are 58 inches. Is that measured from the shoulder to the bottom hem, or from the top of the hood to the hem?

Product length is measured from the back of the neck where the hood is stitched to the robe all the way down (hood length is not measured)

I just washed the robe for the first time & the strap in the back is all shredded it, has this happened to you?

No. The robe must be washed on the delicate,cold water cycle, air dried. Because I didn't follow these instructions the robe Shrunk! I had to buy another robe to replace the one that I shrunk.
