Exactly what was needed for our Thetford RV toilet
I bought this kit specifically after seeing a YouTube video describing what I needed to repair the toilet in our Jayco 5th wheel. It had developed the common problem of, overtime, the seal will dry out and start to leak and the small amount of water that is supposed to stay in the toilet to keep the seal wet and working, won't hold water anymore. Not having a good seal can cause sewer (poop) smells to come back into the RV bathroom, and NOBODY wants that! It was down to draining the water out in just a few minutes. So, I ordered this seal kit, with both new toilet and toilet base seals, and just last weekend got around to finally changing them. First, although not complicated, the procedure, of course, did NOT go as easy as the YouTube videos show to change the seals! On our unit, there were nut covers on the base nuts holding down the toilet, so I needed a thin straight blade screwdriver. Then you need a 1/2 inch wrench to get those nuts off. To separate the toilet bowl from the base, and you need to do that to change the seal, you reach in the opening in the back of the bowl and take a 3/8 inch socket to take out the two bolts, then twist the seat to the right to separate the bowl. The smaller, toilet seal just sits in the slot for it. Take out the old seal, clean the area, and set in the new seal from the kit. Put the seat back together, don't forget the 3/8 inch bolts, and after replacing the base seal, and you might as well take care of that too since that seal is included in the kit, and since you've gone this far in the repair job, then re-secure the base back to the floor. If done correctly, the base will smash down the base seal and be firm and stable on the floor. The new seals should last several years, especially if you watch some videos about using "Plumber's Grease" on the toilet seal itself. Job done!

Seal gets "sticky"
This is an easy item to replace and fix your RV Toilet bowl that no longer holds water. It worked fine at first. some months later it still holds water with the new seal but it now tends to stick to the ball valve face. I am afraid it will ultimately rip the seal leading to a no water/smelly problem. I keep it lubricated with plumbers grease which works but should not be necessary .

Good Quality and easy to install.
There were no instructions so I used a good You Tube video to install. I had trouble with the flap working properly because the video said to use Vaseline to lubricate it. This was a mistake! I went to the Thetford website and they recommend a silicone spray lubricant. I tried this and it worked great. Works like new!

Seems to be as good as OEM part
Installed the seal several weeks ago and it appears to be doing its job (what more can you ask for?). Price was sufficiently lower than OEM for my Thetford toilet, that I decided to give it a try. At this point it appears to be doing the job very well, and I would purchase again in the future. As far as ease of installation, it was easy for me; but that depends on your DIY abilities. I recommend checking out seal replacement videos on YouTube before hand, if you have not done this before.

Missing green lining
At first sight this seal seemed to be perfect. Same size/shape....we did notice the bottom was black, not green, but didn't figure that mattered. Used plumbers grease as directions specified. It flushed "kind of ok" for the first day then got worse and worse where it wouldn't close unless forced. We took it back apart and the seal was totally misshapen due to the ball valve dragging each time. Also there was "toilet contents" in the base of the toilet that leaked through. We tried seal lube, silicone spray, even oil. Everything was tightened correctly and installed correctly. Nothing worked for more than a day. We got a replacement, same thing. Finally got the name brand seal. Works perfectly. Don't waste your money or your TIME! This seal doesn't seal!
