Searched forever for an HDMI router, this is it!!!
After many, many hours of searching and sifting, I finally found this repeater, and it does exactly what I needed it to do!Now, my usage might be a bit different than what most people are looking for, so I'll explain the setup, and why this was perfect for me.Like many others, I have several HDMI devices (X-Box, Blu-Ray, Cable Box, Laptop, Etc...) that need to be funneled into a single output. And of course, this task has been handily solved by the plethora of HDMI Switchers out there that have (x)number of inputs, which you can then cycle through and send to a single output. No, sweat there. However, I needed a way to route the output to EITHER the Receiver (when I want multi-channel audio with my video), OR straight to the TV, when I didn't need the Receiver turned on just to watch something with a simple stereo signal (or rather when I didn't want to eat 785 Watts just to hear a non-audiophile quality youtube video). In other words, there are times when I want the HDMI signal sent to the Receiver, and there are times when it's neither practical or necessary to have the receiver on, and I'd rather just bypass it and send the signal straight to the TV.I suppose I could have split the audio out from each device via S/PDIF or Optical, and just sent the audio to the receiver, while piping the HDMI signal to the TV, and then when I wanted the receiver on, I could just switch between the audio sources at the receiver level. This has several drawbacks however. Namely, audio quality. S/PDIF and Optical audio paths do not have anywhere near the same bandwidth as HDMI (ie, no uncompressed, lossless, multi-channel audio formats). Configuration problems arise as well, as you'd have to route a separate audio path for each and every device (read, at least twice as many cable$, and TOSLink ain't cheap), which is kinda absurd as the audio signal (and a superior one at that) is already included in the HDMI stream. So for ages, I've had to get up and physically plug the output from a traditional switcher into either the Receiver or the TV. A pain in the rear for sure. Man, I thought, if there was only a switcher that worked the opposite way. Instead of multiple devices into a single output, I need a device that can take a single output and route it to multiple outputs. I needed a repeater, not a switcher. And this is what this does.Note: This is not a Splitter. Splitters take a single input and simultaneously output to two or more outputs (like viewing a Blu-Ray movie on two or more TV's at the same time). Those things usually need their own power supply, and are way more expensive (if you want one that actually works) than a typical switcher. This is a Repeater. Actually, it's Bi-Directional. So, you can use it as a traditional switcher as well.Typical usage:1. Take an HDMI source and send it to a TV in one room, OR send it to a TV in another room.2. Take an HDMI source and send it to a TV, OR send it to an HDMI equipped receiver (my scenario).3. Reverse it (it's bi-directional) and use it like a typical switcher. So for me, the setup is:Each HDMI device is sent to a typical HDMI Switcher. This switcher has a single output. This output is sent to the ViewHD repeater via HDMI cable. Then TWO HDMI cables (one to TV, one to Receiver) are attached to the ViewHD.Press a button and the HDMI signal is sent to either the TV or the Receiver.Simple and extremely effective.I have no idea if it supports 3D stereoscopic information (doubt it at this price point). Maybe someone else can test it and post a review.Hope this helps someone else in a similar situation.

YAY! One Less Cable Box
I could finally hook up two LCD flat screen TVs in one room to a single cable box. I have a larger LCD TV for primary viewing in the bedroom and a smaller LED/LCD TV/Computer monitor on a desk. The monitor is primarily used with the computer, but at night I prefer to watch TV at the desk with headphones so as not to disturb others in the house or the neighbor upstairs. In order to get full TV stations lineup as well as Hi Def I had to have a cable box for each TV. I did a search of Amazon for a HDMI Male to 2 x HDMI Female Y Splitter and bought it. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I needed as only one TV could be connected to one of the outputs and the other to a DVD or game box, not another TV. This meant plugging in and unplugging cables so what was the point of that adapter? It was only $6 and I had hope(if not knowledge). So, more research and I came across the ViewHD Switcher. It just came to Amazon in Nov 2012 and I found it Jan 2013. I never got around to trying it out until May when we needed another cable box for a new TV in another bedroom. I remembered I had the ViewHD Switcher. I pulled the cable box and plugged in the 25 ft. HDMI cable I had purchased with the ViewHD switch into the large TV and the other end into HDMI out port #1 on the switcher which I placed on the other side of the room on the desk. I then plugged in the short HDMI cable from the smaller TV/Monitor on the desk into HDMI out port #2, then ran another short HDMI cable from the cable box on the desk hutch to the HDMI switcher input. The Blue Led lit up on #1 and I was watching cable on the large TV. I pressed the switcher button and the blue Led switched on for #2 and cable turned off the large TV and came on, on the smaller TV/Monitor. IT WORKED! That is what it is supposed to do, feed the cable-box signal to one HDMI TV or the other HDMI TV. The disparity in cable lengths from the two out ports is a non-issue.It has been working just fine for almost 3 months and I saved the monthly cost of another cable box. The savings so far just paid for the cost of the HDMI switcher. The savings for the next couple of months will pay for the 25 ft. cable.Only con: As pointed out in other reviews the Blue LED lights are very bright, even brighter than the WiFi modem's 5 lights put together. Good thing I sleep with a sleep-mask.
