What is the total surface area of the vest?

I'm not sure of the total surface area, but it's not enough. I have a size 57" waist, and the XXXL-sized vest that I ordered, would not zip! But, the vest is good quality, so I asked a seamstress to add two inches of elastic material, to both sides, so I can use it.
