Purchased for use with a VX-6r. When using aftermarket batteries, I've learned that using the side charger for a slower charge is often easier on the battery than the fast charger. On the initial charge the radio display showed 'charging' but the progress on the display never moved past the first mark. Then a short time later the display showed NO BATT. Upon power up I had a good charge at 8.5v. It's still on the initial charge after working communications support for a 5-hour 4th of July community event, with a fair amount of xmit. The battery is getting towards low now (7.8v a few days later after tinkering with the radio a bit each day) and am interested in seeing if it keeps charging up well. Giving 5 stars due to good power level after charging. I will update if there is a problem after a few charge cycles.

I ordered this battery for my VX-5. It is getting old and the original battery had failed. the factory replacement was to expensive for me. I ordered this battery and regained the use of my radio. I have been using it two weeks and it seems to work well. The only thing it when charging is complete the L.E.D. does not come on like it did with the factory battery. Other than this it performs very well. I may order another battery for my XYLs VX5 73 Bob KC9-XXX

I let my VX-6R radio sit to long unused and the original battery died. I have read about non Yaesu replacements not fitting right, not holding a charge or low capacity. I don't seem to be have any of those issues with this battery. It fits the same as the original, maybe slightly tighter but I account that to a new seal. Charges to 8.3 volts. I can't comment on capacity, as I have only used this radio intermittingly for short periods of time. I will consider buying a second one as a spare.

Ordered 2, charged them both on VX-7R radio with Vertex/ Yaesu standard charger. They both charged for over 10 hours then gave the dreaded "charge error". Neither charged above 7.3 VDC, whereas the original Vertex batteries charge up to around 8.4 VDC. The batteries fit the radio alright, they just don't charge up to capacity. The Vertex/ Yaesu batteries charge up completely in around 3 hours using the original charger - 12VDC @ .5Amp
