Great value
This is a really good knife for the price. The size is nice, its very fidget friendly, and the blade is tough enough for most peoples needs. I have used it for whittling and it stays sharp. I have other (much more expensive) knives with crossbar locks, but this crossbar lock is the easiest to use. I have read other reviews that complained about the plastic for the lock slide, but it is by far more comfortable than metal stub used on my Kershaw or Kansept knives. For the price, you really can't go wrong. It's a nice knife to have around in your car, kitchen, pocket, or tool box.

Great knife
I like it a lot handle is comfortable, the action is great and smooth blade is sharp. So far so good I’m a fan of SOG I like there products and there knives. It is hard to sharpen as it’s a g10 blade but a solid edc knife.

Probably the best knife you can get for the price.
The SOG Termius XR is so far as I can tell the best knife for the money if you want an "axis lock" style blade. I have a benchmade bugout and comparing to that this knife does really well for the price. Sure the benchmade is better in every way but the compromises are not bad on the SOG and the feature set is robust. Sure the XR lock is not as smooth as the Benchmade. The spring is stronger on the SOG so it takes more pressure to unlock it. Sure the scales are not as polished. Sure the D2 is not as good as S30V. Sure there is no lanyard hole on the SOG. But... do you use a lanyard hole? For my use the upgrades are not really a good use of my dollars. The scale finish isnt bad its just not as smooth. The XR lock works fine and can be flicked open and closed with ease. The pocketclip (since SOG updated it) is peachy keen. The SOG also has a flicker giving you one more way to open it than a bugout. The CIVIVI praxis has similar steel/scales but no crossbar lock, the kershaw heist would be the best direct competition to this knife but at the time of writing is $10 more and doesnt have a flicker tab on the back (though the heist has a lanyard hole). So my opinion, this is a sweet knife for the money, it drops effortlessly through paper out of the box, has all the features (though less polished) of a knife that costs $120 more, its hard not to like it.

Great knife with one complaint
First off it’s a great knife for the price. I had only one complaint for which it lost a star. The G10 scales are sharp around the edges. You can tell they were milled and then slapped on the knife with no finishing touches making for an uncomfortable feel in the hand. I’m used to my $200 Benchmade mini griptilian with g10 scales that are grippy but have had the finishing touches so they aren’t sharp on the edge. But even my $40 G10 Civivi is smoother around the edges. Simple fix, I hit all the edges of the SOG with a bit of 180 grit sand paper to give them a chamfer instead of a sharp 90° edge. It now feels almost as good in my hand as the Benchmade. I get that it was only $50 and not $200 but this is something that should have been done at the factory. Changing the mill bit that cuts out the scales could accomplish this with no extra steps needed. Otherwise it’s nice and sharp with a smooth solid lockup. The blade is centered in the handle when closed. It’s a great knife now that I smoothed out its rough edges. I wouldn’t call myself a collector but I have more than a handful of knives from Benchmade, Civivi, CRKT, Kershaw, Gerber, etc. If I see a knife I like I buy it and typically cycle them through which one goes in my pocket for a few weeks. If you don’t mind hitting this one with a bit of sand paper it’s worth owning.

Good knife; highly recommended
It's a good knife, blade nicely sharpened upon arrival, comfortable to hold and use and it sits securely in my pocket with the provided clip. Neuropathy issues have caused trouble opening and closing some other knives, but the SOG Terminus opens and closes easily thanks to the XR Lock that also holds the blade securely in the locked or open position. No negatives to report here.

Bought as a present, exactly what we wanted
Great knife for the price. Obviously there are more expensive, higher quality knives available from SOG, but this one is decent for the price. Easy to open, cuts as you would expect, feels nice and fits easily in the hand.

A silky smooth small flipper
Overall, this knife strikes me as a good quality, light-medium duty EDC. The design is refined enough for a gentleman's carry while the blade steel and lockup are rugged enough to get some work done. The black Ti-Ni coating and deep carry clip helps retain a discrete presence, while the sub-3 inch blade length makes it less intimidating to deploy in a professional setting. Pros: XR lock - allows for easy one handed blade deployment and stowing, with either hand. SOG claims it can withstand 1500 lbs of force, meaning there's not much you can throw at it which will make the lock fail. Ball bearings - Combined with the XR lock, they allow for a fast twitch deployment and give the knife a sort of "fidget-ability". I find myself repeatedly opening and closing the blade just to enjoy the speed and smoothness of the action. D2 steel - A nice step up from their previous AUS-8 offerings in many ways. D2 sharpens easily, holds an edge relatively well, and is tough enough to withstand some rough use. It's far from the best steel but it's far, far from the worst as well. G10 scales - G10 is similar to carbon fiber composites and micarta in that its layers of fibrous mesh impregnated with resin and cured under pressure. While carbon fiber uses CF and micarta uses linen, G10 is made from fiberglass. The scales on the knife are strong, lightweight, and have a good grippy texture. The layering used to make the material gives it a similar visual appearance to a black micarta as well, making it both understated and visually appealing. Cons: Ball bearings - Wait, didn't I list this as a pro? What gives? Well, despite them offering a silky smooth action, the tiny ball bearings trapped in their soft plastic cage simply won't be able to tolerate the abuses a bushing based design would. While forces in line with the blade can largely be taken up by the lock and the frame, perpendicular forces such as the knife would see while prying are being taken up by these minuscule steel balls being held in place by a ring of buttery plastic. I'm sure the hardened steel of the bearings can take tremendous stress, but the cage containing them absolutely cannot. Once that plastic around the ball bearings begins to deform, the knife will start to have excessive side to side play. If the cage fails and releases the ball bearings, the knife will suddenly feel stiff and crunchy. The weakest link is what breaks the chain, and no matter how strong a lock or how tough the steel is, these bearings are what limits the amount of force this knife can take. I'm not reducing a star here because I don't think anyone is expecting their 3 inch folding knife to be a great machete or prybar and SOG doesn't market this as a rough and tumble professional use knife. Quality control - Now, this one I was tempted to take a star for. Ultimately, since I was able to remedy the issues myself easily I won't but it still is worth mentioning. When the knife arrived, the action was decidedly stiff, sticky, and even felt a little gritty compared to my SOG Vision XR LTE. Adjusting the pivot screw tension didn't really have much of an effect. So I did exactly what SOG says not to do and I disassembled the knife. As expected, there was a lot of fine black metal dust mixed in with the factory lube, likely contamination from the blade production processes. After a thorough cleaning and light oiling of the friction surfaces, I put it back together and it's been flawless. Note: SOG states that customer disassembly voids the warranty, and may result in a $20 charge if the customer needs to send their tool back to SOG for re-assembly. That being said, if you have common sense and a little bit of mechanical intuition, folding knives are relatively simple tools. I personally would rather take 30 minutes to service my blade at home rather than 3-4 weeks waiting for SOG to service it at the factory and ship it back. UPDATE: Unfortunately, the blade contacts the plastic back spacer while closing rather than being held by the lock bar as designed. This is a cardinal sin of lower quality knives and a mark of careless design I hoped SOG had moved past with their recent brand pivot. The end result is that the belly of the blade becomes dulled due to repeatedly smashing into the back spacer while being closed. It's not even a QC issue, it's a design issue, and to fix it at home I'd have to destructively modify the spacer. It's such a bummer because they got almost everything right on this knife only to fail on the absolute basics.
