what non stick coating is used on this wok to coat is it safe ..

If you're handy with power tools. I took the coating completely off with a wire wheel drill attachment. brought it down to stainless. washed/scrubbed it. boiled water in it a couple of times. washed it again. then finally coated it with olive oil cooking spray and used it, at a very high heat right away to get a new cure like a wok should have. After..give it another light wash and thorough dry....light spray again, LIGHT wipe the excess. VIOLA ..you have a great wok. Its one of my first go too pans. SOooo much more than a wok.

Can this wok be used direct on charcoal?

Never used it on charcoal. This wok is of great quality and we recommend it to normal use.

Has anyone had the non-stick scrap off? Used one time and it is all scratched up.

I have used mine 3 times, and there are scratch marks all over it! i use a wood spoon. The coating is cheap as F, probably teflon. Worst wok you can possibly buy! I will never buy Kenmore product in my lifetime. I at the food I cooked on it, and probably poisoned myself.
