Absolutely brilliant!
Pilot Kakuno Fine-Nib Fountain Pen, White Body Soft Pink Cap (FKA-1SR-SPF) Just a fantastic pen. Came in adorable, clean, and very concise packaging that was a breeze to open (just slice the sticker saying "open" open. I used an X-ACTO knife, but I'm sure a regular knife would do the trick). The instructions were in Japanese but I am quite sure a non-Japanese-speaking person would be able to figure out how to install it from the pictures alone. As it's meant for children, everything about this is very simple and easy to get going, which is a good thing for a beginner's pen indeed! It writes smoothly and flawlessly, and as others have noted, you can tell you're writing correctly when the smiley face points at you. The ink flows quite well, and the pen handles nicely. There's a childish aesthetic to the pen and it may be a bit small for someone with larger hands, but it sits pretty comfortably in my hand posted and unposted (though posted provides a heavier feel to the pen, which can provide some stability). Would absolutely recommend.

absouluty loved it. really cute and adorable
absouluty loved it. really cute and adorable, you can see the ink in the feed since its grip is clear. really cute has a winky face on the nib, so adorable! clicks securly. and the metropolitans converter fits so that you dont have to use cartriges all the time. it also should fit the pilot con 50 converter. great for bottled ink users. the nib is pretty stiff, since its marketed for kids thats really good becaue they wont bend the thongs out of place and messup the nib. this also makes it a great begginers pen, so if youre barely getting into fountain pens this is a great option since its cheaper and more sturdy than a softer nibs would be because it can withstand more pressure. if careful it can flex a little and have some variation in the writing. whitch looks really pretty. really loved it and am thinking of buying the sky blue one, or a medium nib one, to have variety.

My New To-Go-To Pen And Absolute Favorite!
I bought this fountain pen sometime towards the end of June and have used it ever since! I've only tried one other fountain pen before of a different brand and this one totally surpasses it. The nib is a wonderful thin size, and although the whole thing is made out of plastic, it is very light weight and durable. A very comfortable fit in your hand. It comes with one ink cartridge and I have already run out of ink from using it so much. It's my to-go-to pen. I will very soon be buying some more ink and most likely another Pilot Kakuno pen. Maybe a Medium nib? It's also very cute and fashionable (if that's also what you're into)! Anyway, I hope this quick review helps. It really is one of the best beginner fountain pens I have come across. You definitely get your moneys worth with this product. The only problem you might have with it is the instructions where it is all in Japanese, but you can easily use the pictures to insert the cartridge correctly. And if you are nervous and still don't know what to do, you can always look up a How To video! Thanks for reading this! I really hope this helps!

Awesome!
Perfect for the price. The quality is always fantastic, even the plastic barrel doesn't feel too cheap. For a starter pen, this is awesome!

LOVE it! Wish it Came New tho...
I love the pen! It's super cute, very light weight, perfect circumference for someone with small hands like me, and the smiley face at the nib just make you want to pick it up. I had a Pilot Metro before this and I was one of the unlucky ones that had nib creep. For most nib creep isn't a problem, for me it's flat annoying it. I also found the Metro felt a little awkward in my hand. I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to hold it without putting too much pressure. I saw recommendations on the Kakuno for small hand so I bought this. It is perfect! No strain, no more trying to find the perfect hold spot. Uncap and write! I also experimented with swapping nibs. I also bought two Pilot Penmanship's and I swap the extra fine nib on to this Kakuno. It was a bad decision. The Penmanship's nib also had nib creep. I use the standard cartridge the Kakuno came with. I then cleaned the pen, swap the smiley face back, used CON-50 and J. Herbin Perle Noire. This time perfection! No nib creep, smooth writing. Both Kakuno and Metro were fine nibs. But I find the Kakuno seem to be finer than the Metro. That may just be me since I don't have the Metro anymore to do an actual comparison. Lastly is that the pen came to me used. The grip has obvious scratches on it. That is the only unfortunate part. I asked Amazon if there is anything they can do, and I'm grateful that they were able to compensate me. Other than that, I highly recommend this pen!

Pen writes well except for feeling cheap
The nib is fine and is relative smooth. At this price point it's incredibly affordable. But I don't like it. It feels as cheap as it is, and for me part of writing with fountain pens is the luxury of it. I don't enjoy writing with these, although I do it at times if I want that color ink. So, no. For me this is not a winner. Edit: While I stand by the previous comments, I have to admit that I will grab this as often as any other of my inexpensive pens to practice handwriting or do unimportant work. I've even ordered one with an EF nib to get an even more spidery script.

This inexpensive pen is a good bet.
So, I bought this pen because I was looking for a fine-nib pen that I could use in my bullet journal, and I didn't want to pay the world for it because: 1) I wasn't sure how practical it would be for my plans for it. 2) I'm on a starving artist budget. 3) I'm particular in that I like what I like to write with, but I'm not a pen connoisseur by any stretch. The other reviews described this as a good "beginner" pen, and that's a valid assessment. You just pop the cartridge in, give it a little squeeze to get the ink flowing, and you're off. It comes with one cartridge, which can be replaced when it's empty ( Pilot Namiki IC100 Fountain Pen Ink Cartridge, Black, 12 Cartridges per Pack (69100) , or you can use a converter so that you can refill with bottled ink ( Pilot Fountain Pen Converter (CON-50) Set of 3 ). So that's a plus. And it's also kind of adorable. Here are the other points: 1) Good ink flow (especially for an inexpensive pen; I think better than the disposable Varsity pens). 2) Very light weight, but when you post the cap on the back, the length is good and it balances surprisingly well. 3) The hexagon barrel means it doesn't roll off the desk (neither does the cap). 4) The grip is also slightly hexagonal. Not obnoxiously so. It puts the nib at the correct angle and makes the smooth plastic easy to manipulate. (Another review said this pen is made for children in Japan, and that makes sense.) I'm not sure how comfortable that would be for really long stretches of writing. 5) The nib is a bit scratchy. Not enough to keep me from using it, but enough that this will be my purse pen after I upgrade to Fine-Nib Fountain Pen 2.0. (I also block print in my diary, so it's less of an issue.) 6) There is no clip. So, there's that. 7) There's no bleed through or even show-through on note paper or printer paper. With finer paper, your mileage may vary. There was show through in one book (ruled paper) and none in the other (grid paper). Both are Moleskines. Go figure. (Maybe it's their vintage? The ruled one is much older.) 8) I didn't notice until I looked at the close up of my handwriting, but there's a little bit of feathering. (2nd picture) To sum up, as pens go, the Kakuno is a pretty safe bet. The price point is low, there's far more that's good about it than bad, as long as you're looking for, say, a Honda and not a Cadillac.

Escribe genial
Me gusta mucho como escribe la pluma. No se seca la tinta a pesar de no ser de rosca. Me abría gustado más en otro color el capuchón porque el rosa no es mi color, pero era la que tenía el plumin que quería. La recomiendo

my new favourite fountain pen
Rapid delivery even though it was from the Far East! Writes perfectly and is honestly my new favourite fountain pen (and I am a stationery fiend!). Nib is fine - as described. Better than the Lamy 'fine' nib which (to me) writes like a medium! Nib not scratchy at all and is the perfect weight. Only thing is the plastic can be easily broken (mine's still fine, touch wood) but for the price, can't be beaten.

Great beginner's fountain pen
The pen is a joy to write. The fine nib gives smooth and even strokes. The smiley face on the nib is a nice touch. Great starter fountain pen at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!
