Bought this for a door with an old-fashioned rim lock. The door is over 100 years old and I didn’t want to mar it, so installing a more modern deadbolt, which would have required extensive door modifications, was not an option. The rim lock already had a hole through the door for its key mechanism, and the Gateman fit it perfectly. Installation steps were simple: 1) Mount interior mounting plate to wall with four screws. 2) Attach external keypad to mounting plate with three screws. 3) Attach main lock body to mounting plate with two screws. 4) Attach latching plate to door frame. 5) Install batteries and program. Note that this unit does not include any wireless capabilities out of the box. It has to be programmed by hand. Bluetooth and WiFi (via a plug-in module and bridge) are available in Korea, and can be bought on eBay, but I haven’t actually tried it to see if it works. If you can get those items, you next run into an issue with the Gateman app, which does not allow US registrations, so you will need to bypass the restriction by using a VPN. It is probably easier to just manually program. You might be able to use the US-based Yale app or even the Yale WiFi bridge and green Bluetooth module (the old one, for Yale Access first generation smart locks, appears to be identical. Again, not tested.) My package included an English version of the instructions. As another reviewer noted, the step-by-step directions are a little cryptic and threadbare, but once you understand the context programming is easy. Overall a great product that provides a non-destructive option for older, non-deadbolt doors. Update: I have the green Bluetooth module. So far, unable to get it to work. It would be nice, but the lock functions well enough with local programming only.

I have a double door with groves on edges, and the doors overlapping on each other, so I bought this rim lock that can be installed behind the door with minimal drilling. This lock is pretty easy to install and looks great. Configuring the finger print and passcode unlock was easy and they both work nicely. Auto lock feature is very useful too Overall a great smart lock that looks modern and is strong too

Simply put, this lock looks and works great! It was very easy to install and as long as you carefully follow the directions, the programming was manageable as well. As an exterior deadbolt, this lock rivals any other deadbolt lock I've used in the past. The keypad functionality is also great. It provides the right amount of sensitivity to carry out a command and it provides you with a "beep" and a flash of the number you successfully input. In general, the programming instructions are "ok." There is a logic to the programming which isn't readily obvious until you'e tried it a few times. There are also several Youtube videos that one can turn to for help. Support for this product is not easily found in the U.S.. So if you are the type who likes to call customer support so frequently that you are on a first name basis with each support team member, then this is probably NOT the lock for you - otherwise I highly recommend it. I searched high and low for a rim lock that would work for sliding doors and this one works great I love the thumbprint recognition and the simplicity of the installation. Highly recommend this product!

The auto locking feature works great.

I was researching how to upgrade my existing locks without serious modifications to my doors and found this smart vertical bolt. It was easy to install and a breeze to use. I was able to retrofit my old Apt vertical bolt lock and use this as our primary lock. No need for keys now.

UI tried for days to set this item up and even reached out to the company. In the set up instructions, not the installation instructions it says for sale in Domestic Ko0rea only. So there is not support for this item. Also the front number pad does not tighten to the door, i had to use double stick tape to make it hold/ which did not work for long, lock fell off the door before return period is up!
