Not quite what I expected
This book is much smaller than my other art books. See photo for comparison. The cover feels plastic-y and the pages have some kind of smooth coating, which feels cheap and artificial. I didn’t realise it was spiral bound, but I guess that’s so it can lie flat on your work surface as reference. The colour swatches have been cropped out of a larger area, which means they have lost that lovely effect where the painted areas meet the paper (if you love watercolours, you know what I mean!) The textures also look a bit grainy - I think they zoomed in too much. The colour swatches are too small to appreciate those lovely watercolour textures and I also wonder whether the printed colours are true to life. All in all I don’t find this book very inspiring. If you’re looking for colour inspiration, I would recommend the book in the photo I posted for comparison. Although it’s less comprehensive, you get so much more out of it.

Pretty disappointing
Well not at all what I thought, who needs pages and pages of yellow mixxed with another yellow, or with a red, or red with red. Most folks want yelllows and blues, to make various greens, and by the way paynes grey mixed with various yellows or indeed a sienna makes good english landscape greens, so does yellow and black. Oooh black , is that even allowed ?I was hoping for colour mixes, ie cloud colours, try ultramarine , light red and a little sienna for that one.I paint using W&N as they suit my landscapes, but have way too many daniel smith as well, so if you want every colour mix of those under the sun, try jane blundell, either her charts or very expensive but lovely book, which I dont have either.Nothing against this book or the suthor but just using pretty much 3 yellows for green mixes is poor. There is a reason I dont use naples yellow for greens, she does, what happened to transparent yellow etc thankfully she doesnt use aureloin , its not great, fades etc . She doesnt mention hookers green is a mixing green, its in here and she shows mixes, but it was developed as a mixing greed, as is viridian , never use on their own. In fact one artist only uses hookers green and gets around 10 different greens or more from itI wont return it, cannot be bothered, so back to tried and trusted methods, and those are fineOthers have loved the book and found it useful, so thats life !

Handy resource for colour
I saw a review of this and felt for the price it was worth having a copy. Very handy guide to mixing colours. I think the version I saw was bigger in size so might be a reprint.
