arranged by category
Sign directions are easy to follow. The information is presented in categories. I would prefer a reference guide that was more "dictionary" style - alphabetical order.

Wish I had this with all my kids!
So I learned about baby sign language with my third kid. I used this book and the baby Einstein dvd. Let me tell you, our youngest barely cried and we were barely frustrated raising her because she could communicate with us and let us know what was wrong. We started almost immediately with her once she was born. It didn’t impair her ability to speak English at all. It was a godsend let me tell you! She could tell us when she was hungry, when she was full, when she was tired, when she wanted to play or go outside. It was amazing! It made the years between her being born and being able to speak full blown sentences way less frustrating and more enjoyable. I wish I had this with my first two kids. If so, I wouldn’t have been so stressed out and my kids wouldn’t have been so frustrated and crying all the time. I now buy this book for every expectant parent in my life and recommend it to everyone. Buy it, use it, you won’t regret it!

Perfect for Baby Shower
I am personally learning ASL 'just because'. I have heard how this helps baby's communicate before they can speak clearly. I think it is a fantastic idea! What a great 2nd 'language' to learn early.

Concisely breaks it down, very helpful
Straight to point:Easy to followConcise detailsBreaks down what to look for/ when to use and how to do itWould recommendLoving this book, dound it super helpful, it not only breaks down how to do the signs in concise details. It also tells you what your child might do and when is a good time to use the sign like it advised against use "more" sign while feeding the baby due to them confusing sign to mean eating. It also explains how many to do and which ones to start with. This is almost as good as having a video show you. I had originally went looking for an app on my phone but this book is better than apps and videos I have found. I have no current complaints.I would recommend this.

Good illustrations
I have a mentally disabled daughter who has no speech but hears really, really well! And she loves babies! She communicates by signing, pointing and nodding her head yes or no. I gave this to her when she came with us to the cottage the end of June. By mid July the book was already needing to be duct taped back together. She didn't go anywhere without it, even slept with it. She was constantly opening it and pointing to pictures, trying to make the sign. A huge success in our house!
