The manual says to replace filters at 950 gallons of water. How does a person know when you hit 950 gallons? Does the machine keep track?

I recommend a TDS meter (comes included with zero water pitcher - not a sponsor) or can buy one separate. Personally I don’t drink that 950 gallons of water from a single source in 6 months so using universal set timeframes - as the other answer suggests - seems wasteful for the wallet and environment.
